To Streak Or Not To Streak

now im not going the 3 ML route, im sticking with 2 ML and a tag because i want to be as helpful to team as possible. So logicaly going streak wouldnt be a bad idea but after trying it i just dont like it true i only did 2 matches. but both times i ran into another light with an ECM and they streaks were basicly useless, and once i switched to counter...... i got lit the F up.
i actualy farmed cash with my raven using an SRM6 (for awhile i was using 2 which in the narc slot fires one missle at a time but its kinda useful vs lights since you can adjust your lead mid fire)
and if i aim well its more overall damage then the streaks, i dont have to worry about ECM and i have a weapon that i can lay some pain on larger mechs too without feeling like im pecking them to death.
im going to give streaks a few more matches but im personaly leaning towards SRM6.
Anyone who is PRO streak please any pointers/tips or observations would be appreciated

The fact of the matter is at current time with ECM as it is 9/10 times streaks are hands down the best option for a chassis with ECM and it's not quite as obvious a choice the other way but more often than not SRM's are the best choice for a chassis without ECM.

The 2SSRM2 version is better for fighting enemy lights, but the 6pack version doesn't drop too much lightfighting ability (mainly issues with 3Ls once they clock) while gaining an appreciable advantage against larger mechs.
Additionally, practice with the dumbfire missiles will keep you in practice, just incase they ever fix Streaks. If not, you'll only need to find a ton (I think) to convert to an SSRM6 when they become available and turn into a tiny, streaky god of death.

hey now dont hate on the 3L, i actualy enjoy it. Not because it seems OP or anything either i die easy enough it seems.
I think part of the hate for the Raven is its highest armor Light and has the most VARIED weapon hardpoints. Bug/Hitboxes/tweaks needed aside there is one more factor people forget.
the Missle VS Beam problem, well not realy a problem but people forget yea that Medium laser says it does 5 damage, but it has to be hitting that same spot for full duration to do that 5 damage, if a missle hits its doing its full damage (and then some in situations where splash bugs)
so when you have majority of mechs sporting Beam weapons, vs an insanely fast mech your probably only going ot do 1 damage per beam weapon per shot if they are moving at all. and with how fast they go and torso speed you might as well be sitting still.
i did have a good game with streaks just now i think it will have to be a switch back and forth situation.i am tempted to throw a narc on and switch up my beams though. might be nice to be able to tag enemies and run away

Oh get off your high horse, what am I going to put in that missile hardpoint? An LRM5 for trololololllol? Did you refuse to use Gauss before it got the explosion nerf?

A: The hate for the Raven-3L (yes, specifically that variant) is because it is currently the Apex (i.e. best) Light Mech. It's not actually much better than the Jenners, which were Apex Light before it, the margin is very thin - despite what you might read here. However the Apex build for the 'fast, hard to hit class' in any game like this will always generate an inordinate amount of rage. Likewise, player-action-limiters (like ECM) always produce an inordinate amount of rage. The 3L perfect stormed these into one package when ECM was released (bear in mind it was bit of a joke before that) and thus has generated a kind of self-sustaining rage-cyclone. To the point where hit-registration issues are reported against all mechs (for instance, hitting rear armour when shooting front) as a general bug, except when the target is a Raven, where the exact same effect is attributed to the hitboxes rather than the hitreg.
B: Don't use NARC, for your own sake. It's basically a super-heavy TAG, but far more limited and requires very finite ammo.

I loled at "PRO" because the mech is probably the furthest away from being representative of ace piloting as we currently have in the stables. My dog could post good numbers in a 3L. It's got a low ability ceiling to get decent results out of it.
I don't hate the Raven, I drove them before they were Noobmobiles.
That said, if you can aim with SRMs, go for those unless you're a dedicated light hunter. It frees up your ECM for both modes as needed, not just a protection for Streak usage.

I got the impression he meant pro as in "pro vs anti" or "for vs against" as opposed to "Pr0 vs N00B"

aside from the ECM Complaints i dont see why its any differnt then the the other lights, actually my understanding is jenners can get a higher damage output then a raven can (but again it is reliant on HITTING your target)
i mean honestly in any of my other mechs if i see a raven and its NOT a 3L.... i tend to laugh at them. even a 3L i dont worry much about unless im in a mech that cant hit up close which i try to avoid.
frankly the atlas ****** me off more then any other ECM mech. but even that is "Meh"

Aside from that, I always go for the biggest and best. srm6's do epic damage compared to weight/slots. In some cases it pays off to go for srm4+A, but generally speaking, if it fits, srm6.
That is all.

Raven Hitbox Adjustment
- The hitbox complexity of the Raven has been reduced.
- This will result in the Raven being hit much easier and brings it on par with it's light counterparts.
