It's too light to really utilize it properly as a good heavy ballistic platform.

The CTF-4X or CPLT-K2 Can do exactly what the Jagermech does, except better. Just my opinion.

I played with the JM6-DD in various configs: Dual AC/20, Quad UAC5, and a number of more balanced approaches (like dual AC10, machine guns, and lasers). Fact of the matter is, any powerful platform will make compromises in every other area, including ammo, armor, heat, and speed.

I'm not interested in running a dual gauss or quad ac/5 config, because I can do that on many mechs, and have a better mix of backup weapons.

Don't believe me? Let me tell you how many jagers have come up on my missile boat stalker, and I have dispatched them with medium lasers alone...

Neither of those can do 5 or 6 AC2s either, which completely out dakka dakka the 4x or the K2. I laugh at your silly missile boat and shred them with glee.

I found while running against jagers in my ppc treb that it is just a poorly designed mech. (Not devs fault, original concept failure)

Whether or not the head hitbox is too big I can not comment on. What I can say is that its position dead center to the ct is its down fall. With long range direct fire weapons, I find I'm hitting the head by accident when firing center mass.no splash or nothing. One match I encountered briefly a jager at about 600m. I quickly launched 2 ppcs center mass and just before I turned a corner for cover its paper doll showed up, missing all of its head armor but the rest untouched.

Another yell on Jagermech hitboxes:
  • head hitbox is huge, thus, due to bugged missile splash damage, Jager is very frequently killed by single LRM/SRM volley from a boat
  • side torsos hitboxes are too large as well, adjustment is highly required
PGI, please do hitboxes hotfix ASAP for this otherwise nice Mech.

broken hit box for headshots, many are getting killed by headshot from a back shot with srm

Headshots from behind, the side, near misses etc

Seems a very fragile mech in comparison to my phracts and ilya. I have almost identical armour (max arms, 40/20 on ST) and I fell like a lose an arm from tag fire never mind a brief glance of an mlas.

It's like they made the Jager hitboxes the polar opposite of how the raven hit boxes were...

My first match I was headshotted with in 30 seconds of fighting..

This was only 3 hours after the patch was released. W T F?

Definitely easy to headshot..

Jager is suffering bad from a really large head hit box. It really needs to be adjusted. Past that and splash causing missiles to do too much damage across the board the Jager is actually a pretty solid mech. Seriously though shrink the head hit box.

Please provide a quote to substantiate this. I've read that damage to the rear armor transfers to the front, but that doesn't mean front and rear armor are the same. You start taking critical hits to internals when your rear armor is stripped even when your front armor is not stripped. Rear armor matters.

How is it that a Legendary Founder not only doesn't know that you can change/increase rear armor beyond its starting value, but is actually arguing that it can't be done?

(nm, I see the explanation)

Seems to me like the Jägermeister is the first real balanced 'Mech we have. Every loadout option brings its own major downsides (heat, too heavy, you name it).

Unfortunately, it feels like it's the only mech you cannot stupidly boat with weapons.

Niko, say now, that TESTCREW didnt noticed head hitbox problem. Oh, better, say that its working as intended.

PGI, hire real testers, please.

I couldn't play it yet, but what I saw of them so far:
I really like how the arms adapt to the weapon installed in them. I really hope all older mechs will also get more of this adaptability. (Awesome 8Q would be great to have that, for example.)

Trebuchet Missile launchers on the JM6-A.

my only aesthetic issue with this mech. seems like they spent a bunch of time on the custom ballistic hardpoints (which is frekan sweet, but unfortunately recycled in the catapult) and neglected to give some love to one of the stock variants.

Unique variant model> customization subsystems.

Nice mech but suffers from ridiculously large head hit box and missile splash bug.

AGREE

it allows for hell of a lot customization but you can't really boat anything without major drawbacks for speed, armor, heat or ammo

As for being an lrm boat, I note that jager mechs are very easy to kill compared to all other mechs. This probably due to their hit boxes. As for all other mechs they are just right and thanks for the fix on the raven 3L. But again I agree even though I don't have a jager mech they are easy to kill with a head shot and their hit box being to big. Out side of that good luck and have fun Jager fans ... still waiting on the Highlander.

keep in mind JM6-S has only 192 stock armor. Most don't realize they need to pump that up or they will lose very fast.

First thing to do when you get a Jäger is add DHS and Endo and use the space you got to pump the armor at least above 320. Then work on the weapons.

Only have the S so far and the stock layout is already pretty good. You can even place an XL there, if you use the stock weapons since you are fighting from the 2nd or even 3rd row.
if you want to brawl, get dual AC20 but XL will be veeeery tricky. Dual Gauss + 2ML is also possible and probably even better then Dual AC20.

AMS is no bad idea until the next patch comes.

I wonder if there are players that buy a mech and doesn't even bother to check the armor amount on it before launching..

Still you bear a XL engin with a tremendously easy to side-core mech.. A gausspult is sturdier than this thing, and Dual AC 20 is sometimes fun but again, you'll have a hard survivability. If you want to go standard then the K2 at least allows you to strip 2,5 tons of armor from the arms, something you can't do in the jager since you need the armor on the arms and everywhere else.

To me it's a total let-down, I knew it even before trying it out but I hoped it could fare better. The only interesting thing is the A, but again, to achieve sustainable or fast builds you can't even employ any ballistic.
