It's a neat expansion, but there's 2 reasons why I'm not buying.

1. I played 250 hours of Skyrim. In that time I averaged 1 crash to desktop every 5-15minutes of play. This is (no joke) around 800-1000 CTDs. The VERY DAY I beat the game, Bethesda came out with the 4GB patch and since then, the game's stability has increased so that I now CTD once every 5-7 hours of play. So in short, F*CK Bethesda.

2. I have logically deduced that if my computer will be now and henceforth dedicated to playing JUST MWO whenever I can, there's no reason for me to buy expansions or other games.... EVER. My machine will be "Mechwarrior or Bust". ;)

There is nothing "logical" about anything you've said. You experience stability issues that are largely isolated and you write the whole company off? Sounds like an emotional move more than anything.

I, for one, am looking forward to the new DLC.

I have roughly 200 hours spend in skyrim. I love the game, but if the DLC won't be for free, I am not buying it. I consider the concept of DLC wrong, paying quite a lot for marginal content which is repetitive and rather boring when played for the second time. Dawnguard may be an exception, but still, I am not changing my attitude.

<cfset faithInCompany = 100>
<cfloop from="1" to="250" index="i">
<cfif gameCrashes>
<cfset faithInCompany -= 1>
</cfif>
</cfloop>
<cfif faithInCompany less than 20>
<cfset purchaseGameAddOns = false>
</cfif>

....no, no....it was a pretty logical decision.

Isolated? I bought Skyrim on day 1 and it was so full of bugs, crashes and freezes, that I couldn't even play it decently. And it was no isolated case, I remember their forums literally full of angry posts concerning the game's stability.

Personally, Bethesda won't catch me ever again. I understand the game is very complex, but to send it to the public like it was, barelly playable (actually it was indeed unplayble, as even one of the main quests was impossible to get through because of a bug), is a disrespect to costumers.

Hell, it can be a great game, but just like Blizzard recently, Bethesda will have no love from me.

i wonder if it will be as boringly short as the companions quest line.

60$ for 30 minutes of gameplay here we come wooo!

speaking of that, was anyone else bothered by "herf derf well established system that has worked for years, oh hey lets give this new guy leadership because he did some stuff for us" system they had in place with the guild quests? in fact the game overall felt very butchered, there are a lot of places in the game in general where it feels like there's supposed to be more but like they cut it for time. very annoying and I was very disappointed. probably won't be buying anything from bethesda again unless I hear good things about it after the hype train ends.

Whenever someone says this I always have to question:

Would you buy it if instead of DLC it was called "Expansion Pack" and Cost $30 as it would have in the pre-DLC era? Sure some DLC is a rip off and pure money grubbing, but it's important to distinguish between what is pure greed, and what would have otherwise been an expansion pack. That said, aside from the crossbows and mounted combat the DLC holds little interest for me. I actually feel that as the storyline goes, the guild quests always offered a more compelling experience than the main story line, and if they wanted to produce a DLC that fleshed each out so that it actually felt like significant time had passed between joining up, and becoming top of the food chain, I'd be all over that.

I also find it unfortunate that people had such issues with Skyrim to cause it to be unplayable, because it really is an amazing game. In the beginning mine was completely stable and I never hit the main storyline bug as I was easily level 30 and harbinger of the companions before I even returned the horn to the greybeards. It only became unstable when I started to mod it, but once it was patched to the current version that instability ceased and the only crashes I get come from incompatible mods.

I actually never had any stability issues with Skyrim. Any bugs I've encountered have been minor or patched swiftly and the game has never crashed on me. I think Skyrim was a fantastic game with a ridiculous options for exploration and tons of interesting quests. So I'll definitely be buying Dawnguard if it's priced reasonably enough. And I think the comparisons people are drawing between Blizzard and Bethesda are a little silly. They have completely different problems. One releases excellent but buggy games (which I forgive because they fix it quickly and the sheer size of the games), and the other releases less buggy, excellent games but abuses and manipulates their consumer base (which I will not forgive and I'm currently boycotting them over the Diablo 3 online bullshit).

Skyrim has only frozen on me 3 times, and I can't tell if it was the game or my old 360, besause it came down with a terminal case of red ring while loading one day. Dawnguard is only going for $20 (1600 pts), so it's not like it'll be a complete rip, plus it's got a pile of Kinect voice commands so I can use ANY of my shouts just by saying the words. Not too shabby :)

As for Diablows3, it's truely a waste of my hard drive space. Played through it once and felt kinda, meh.... afterwards.

Eh?

I'm almost 500 hours into Skyrim. I've never had one, single, AT ALL crash, freeze, restart, reasonless exit, or problem with the game. Period.

None. Nada. Zip. Zilch, Zero. Not even ONE.

It has been 100% problem free and 'working as intended' the entire time I've owned it, and that includes patching to current on release day and playing online.

Not sure why y'all have so many issues. Perhaps if you (a) built your own gaming rigs, and (:) had a ******* clue what you were doing?

There are 10,000 websites that will give you advice on hardware/software/how-to-build out there on teh intarwebz. Try some.
