I feel like I discovered a time capsule. Here is a sample of what I found:

-A picture of my first girlfriend
-A picture of a friend I no longer talk to
-Some files in some mysterious format i no longer recognize
-oh... and this:

i always thought it was funny how "floppies" used to really be floppy and hard disks were these "new hard things" that replaced them... oh how times have changed.

oh.. and when i said i found "a floppy"... it is actually like 20 of them... labeled generically "Disk 1, Disk 2, etc." lol

I found a floppy the other day too. Labelled "screenshots" in my childish handwriting, I no longer have a floppy drive, but I'm interested in what's inside it.

Keep posting what you find. Old stuff in floppy can sometimes be gems.

Old floppies... rarer than memory cores of Battletech. ;)

I recently did the same, and being the nerd I am... I had an external USB floppy drive sitting in my office. I plugged it in, and found the SAME kinda stuff you're posting now. I could add mine to your list if you would like? lol

@Draelren: sure, why not? we can refer to this as the "awful-pixel fan art" thread ;)
(although i would be surprised if this is the first)

Sweet, I'll take a look when I get home and see if I can track down the directory where I pulled all of the old stuff onto.

This is one of the coolest threads I've seen on here. Keep the old school art coming! :)

Dude, I had like all of these saved to my HD when I was like 13, I use to hang out in the AOL Battletech chat room for hours on end talking about the novels, games, mech designs and trading art.

imgur.com is great for fast drag-and-drop uploading of images to share.
If they're in a non-standard format, like .PCX or something weird, you can use Irfanview to mass-convert them to JPGs.

Wow... thank you Gendou. that was super helpful in making it easier to post images. Glad everyone is liking the little trip down memory lane. Here are some more: -_-

Apologies, but I had to bump this. Anyone else with some awful CG battletech art from over a decade ago they would like to share? ;)

I'm almost embarrassed to show these. I'm also afraid some of my earliest/worst attempts at BT art might be on one of those mysterious floppy disks.
