Jagermech - Brief Review

Purchased a JM6-DD to play with. So far, I've only been able to test it on River City Night (did you guys increase the drop chance on that map?).

Loadout:

6x AC/22
300x AC/2 ammo

2x Medium laser

Double Heat Sinks
Ferro
Endo

Stock 260XL Engine

Pros: Super fun to chain fire 6x AC/2. Something about it just makes me giddy. Annoys the target to no end.

Cons: No armor, no ammo, no heatsinks, no DPS. You're basically a glass potato gun.

The mech is pretty slow, but it'***** box is better distributed than the awesome, so you don't take 90% damage to one location. The field of view is okay (better than the stalker) but not as good as the catapult. There is almost no arm movement at all, so it's pretty stable and converges instantly.

It's also able to pop over terrain and fire with its main weapons, making it a better sniper/gun platform than centurions or atlai. It's a pretty good ambush mech. The variants are also well distributed and don't feel like you're buying the same mech over and over (like the catapult).

I'll update as I play more.


UPDATE: Someone mentioned that he was head shot from behind. Nothing to confirm this so far, but be on the lookout.

New build:
Max armor
4x AC/2
300x AC/2 Ammo

2x MG

3000x MG Ammo

2x Medium Pulse laser


Okay, this mech is not a very good brawler. Good at sniping and ambushing, but the torso twist is pretty slow and it doesn't have a good twist range for brawling. still, there are some mean builds so far. 4x large laser and 4x machinegun is surprisingly evil.

causes the censor to kick in.

Seems similar, past hour I have got to mess around with it. I got the JM6-S, added an XL, Increased the Ammo. But, within the first few matches almost instant killed, 1 barrage from an SRMpult, i saw another pilot get killed with 2 rounds of LRM's. Serious Lack of Armor, after configuring it from about 180armor to 352 armor, it seems to last longer, but yeah still very fragile mech. The best example is my last match, one large laser and UltraAC5 round to my left torso, and dead.

I have no good reason for wanting it...or math or say anything to back me up stating it will be "good", But I dont ******* care either.

6x AC/22 ? Was there a new non-canon cannon added in the patch?

On a serious note just put 2x AC/20 and 2x Medlas with 6 ton ammo.

I have died from head shots maybe 20% of the time. Way to much. sometimes almost no torso damage at all. other then that, the mech is different. will it be fun in the long run? not sure yet, but i have all 3 and am having some fun.

You can ask S3dition how the loadout I decided to try works. He was there.
Packs a FP44 rating with 416 points of standard armor. Works better than expected.

Ive actually died to headshots 4x of 8 matches. Fun to run but I'd like that reduced some.

I saw someone using 6 MG's... they promptly died as expected.

The headshots are likely not an issue with the Jager itself, but rather the fact that PGI borked their missile code again and they're all doing too much damage to all heads.

Head shots seem to be a problem right now. I got head shot from LRM's in one game, and general scatter damage in another.

Put me down as headshot by lrms, Twice. The first one was by indirect fire too.

LRM's = instant headcap.... no matter where they hit.

The only Jagermech that isn't useless with an XL is one sporting dual AC/20. The XL is way too big of a liability with any other build, since the damage isn't front loaded like it is with two AC/20's. This is my initial impression as Jagers are very easily taken down.

The Jager only excels when it isn't focused.

They are even more fun to target than I had hoped! My hunchback-4g hasn't killed one outright, but I've yet to do a drive by where I can't take an arm off or pop all of the weapons in it. I am delighted that this accursed thing's fragility has been preserved. Also, while spectating in it, the cockpit really gets the turret impression across. Great job all around, PGI!

I similarly have been headshot four times tonight, compared to my previous twice in the entirety of my MechWarrior Online career. Something is pretty off with that hitbox, methinks.
