Had a play with the new Jager DD last night and I'm impressed

Tried a few different setups and had a blast. So thought we'd try and consolidate the most effective builds people have identified into a single thread

A few drawbacks that became immediately apparent:

- You can not utilise all 6 ballistic slots effectively
- 6x AC2 and 4xUAC5 builds are not really viable for sustainability and survivability
- XL engine is a must to gain the weight needed for ballistics
- As a result of point 3, you tend to die a lot from engine explosions

A few advantages that became immediately apparent:

- It's a heavy hitter
- Heat isn't a problem at all
- Hardpoint locations are fantastic, ideal for sniping

I had most luck with a 2xAC20 setup but thought I'd explore a more flexible build as it was a bit of a 1 trick pony

So here's what I came up with:

http://mwo.smurfy-ne...b0850ad25131294

Now I haven't tried this build yet as I'm at work but it seems pretty solid

- Heavy hitting
- Range
- Heat efficient(ish)
- Plenty of ammo
- Backup weapons
- Flexibility with loadout. E.g. AC20 could be switched for 2x UAC5s, ER PPCs switched for regular PPCs or lasers. MGs could be removed to make room for more ammo or an additional DHS

Anybody tried something similar or have any other builds they can recommend?

(I found the stock 2x AC2, 2x UAC5 extremely tight on ammo)

Knock down those PPCs to mlas and switch your mgs to a couple ac/2s. You might even be able to squeeze in 3 AC/2s in there with some work. I think people are under the impression that just because there are 3 ballistic hard points in both arms that it's intended that the arms be balanced. Putting 2 or 3 AC/2s in one arm and an AC/10 or AC/20 in the other gives a good mix of ranges, good alpha, and keeps up the dps without too many heat issues. it isn't the fastest mech, but it's not really intended to be. It's a fire support mech.

I like the versatility of the JM6-A:
- brawler: XL315, 11DHS, Endo, max armor except 33/60 legs, 4x Artemis SRM6 +5t ammo, 2xLL
- weapon platform: XL300, 10 DHS, Endo, max armor except 33/60 legs, 2xUAC5+6t ammo, 4xSSRM+2t ammo, 2xML
- Missile fun: XL300, 10 DHS, Endo, max armor except 41/60 legs, 2xLRM15 + 6t ammo, 2xSSRM+1t, 2xLL

I came up with that exact UAC/SSRM night. Should have a good ranged punch, and be very punishing up close, so long as ECM sin't around.

I like the JM6-DD so far, My build is 2x ML, 2x machine guns, and 4x AC/2 with an AMS. Have 12 double heat sinks to help with the heat. 6 tons AC/2 ammo, 1 ton machine gun, 1 ton AMS with CASE. Tried alot of other builds but this one seems to work best for me.

You can mount 6 AC/2's but then you woudln't have much ammo to pack and it creates to much heat. Would not last long with that build.

I just purchased an JM6-S last night so I haven't had much time to really tinker, but so far I have put endo and DHS in the mix. I uparmored it to about the same standards as a stock K2, and currently mount 2 AC/5 and 4 med. lasers. Tried two UAC but it went thru ammo to fast. I'm trying to stay away from XL's as the side torsos are fair sized, but will be trying lots of different loadouts.

Nice load out Battlecruiser. This is so different then what I was seeing last night. Everyone running around with AC5,AC2. I had the sound of autocannons haunt my dreams last night.

Nice build there Battlecruiser, running something very similar on JM6-DD myself. Dual LB 10-X AC build with 4xMGs and two medium lasers, endo, DHS and lots and lots of ammo with stock XL 260 engine but almost maxed out armor.

edited: deleted the old crappy build, newer one can be found on second page.

IMO the best Jagermech builds are long-range. Short-ranged weapons are no-nos right now because of the Jagermech's tendency to get headshotted. That's why I suspect you mostly see UAC/5s and AC2s on them.

Honestly though the Jagermech isn't going to hit its full potential until we get some better lightweight ballistic weapons like Light AC5s. But that's not prototyped until like 3055 at the earliest, and isnt in widescale production till the 3060s.

yes and no. yes if you can't seem to stay out of the spotlight, yes if you like to play strategically.

no if you can be sneaky like a ninja, no if you like to play tactically. jagermech is a medium mech with lots of gun through and through. you have to play it sneaky or at range, or this shy mech will fall over when looked at

If possible, do some ac 10, even in range and firepower.

I like some of these builds, but your armor allocations Front/Back seem crazy with almost nothing in the rear. Can't believe you aren't getting torn up by lights from the rear since this mech turns and torso twists like a hippo.

My new toy's setup...

JM6-A
Medium Lazers x2 (My standard weapon)
LRM10x2 (Long to mid support / direct fire)
SRM6x2 (Added punch up close)
DHS 14 (To stay cool on Tour)
STD 260 (Not too slow for a support mech)
76 FirePower (Is split 40 up close and 36 at range)
1.37 Heat Efficiency (Easy to manage)
384 Standard points of armour (Cause he's Hard really!)

Doing some good damage with this build so far but I've only just completed Basic skills with it...
Need to save for the next now :(

you're wasting the 1 ton of CASE - it doesn't do anything for you with your XL.

Also, I've always been confused when I see ammo in the torso when you have room for it in legs. Rarely do anything but lights get legged. Also, you can stick on lbx10 ammo in your head since the guns will use that ammo first.

This is what I'm running at the moment. Sometimes I swap the lasers for more ssrms but that does open up a weakness to ECM.

I'm finding that having max armor (except for legs) and at least some kind of short range firepower is critical with this mech if you want to live more than 5 seconds.

I find the DD and S a little too polarized for my liking. The A, however, is fabulous. I'm using a gauss, two ML and 4SSRM2 in mine, and it cores like a champ.

I think the problem with ammo in the legs at the moment is that LRM's are taking the armor off of legs like a foot fetish guy going after his girlfriend's stockings. The ammo in the legs is likely to go boom and then the pilot is stuck looking like Lt. Dan before he got new legs.
