So I'm going to be buying a new mech so as my catapult will surely be hit by the incoming LRM/SRM nerf and I was curious as to which chassis you Warriors would suggest (note: I prefer heavies over mediums and I will not pilot lights also I'm not liking the jager all that much)

getting 3 catapults to unlock skills if you already have 1 is a good idea.
All 4 variants are easy to use.

Do you have a cat already?

I run a catapult -c1 2x A-LRM5s 3x ML and a Tag, but I don't want to get another missile heavy mech with the incoming missile nerf. (which is sad because I love the catapult)

We need more Dragons. Handle one well, you'll be respected. Something that will never happen to a Splatapult "pilot"...

I don't have a splatapault, (though my ideal A1 would have a combo of SRMs and LRMs) which variant would you suggest (hero mechs aren't a possibility as I'm not putting any money into a beta)

I'm gonna have to ask a buddy of mine, who's real successful with his build, as i don't have one myself. But when you see him with his rig... man that mech is underrated. I'll post his build this evening (european time). It's not a hero variant.

Like Catapults but want to run one without missiles? Pick up a K2 then.

Otherwise, I'd suggest the Cataphract. They're powerful heavy weapons platforms. You said you don't like mediums and the Dragon plays more like a medium than a heavy, so it sounds like you wouldn't like it.

it is true that I don't like mediums (too fragile) but the K2s hardpoints seem a tad lacking in the damage department. phract looks like fun too though, I do like the dakka

Phract 4x is pretty Sweet. It's slow as all get out, but running four ACs gives you enough reach to make up for the lack of speed.

Stick with the cat and get a K2. There's a huge array of options with that mech, so much so that I own 2.

4ppc.
4ll.
2ppc + 1 gauss.
2 gauss.
4ml + 2 uac5.
2 ac20.
etc.

I have a 4ppc one and a 2 ac20 with 4medium lasers.

If you want variation, Cataphract. If you want cheese and boating, get some more cats.

Personally I'd say phracts. 70 tons of pure winsauce? Who wouldn't want one? Start out with either the 3d or the 2x. They're both adaptable and powerful mechs. Of course, if you really want cheese, Illya Muromets is the way to go.

This is definitely a strength of the chassis.
Want to boat energies? Covered.
Four autocannons? Covered
How about 2 PPCs and a Gauss? Or even two gausses? Covered.
That's even before you get to the Illya.

Yes, and that was my point. Phracts don't do cheese as well as cats. Cats are nice, but phracts are better imo. Mind you, I don't have a problem with cheese builds. In fact, some of my phract builds could be classed as cheesy. I do have some issues with lrm's though. Hopefully that hotfix will quench my thirst for great justice!

I don't think I have the accuracy to make the 2x PPC+Gauss effective :/

I will agree that LRMs are bugged but it was nice feeling useful again since ECM was added.

any variant you prefer to suggest? or build? playstyle suggestion (currently my playstyle involves following the atlas and LRMing whatever he looks at to death)((give or take some medium lasers and tag-ing))
