I was just in a match on River City where the whole enemy team was spamming LRMs - even their Ravens.

I hate to say it, but this game is currently actually worse to play than it was during the 8-man PUG-stomping premade days.

I'm eagerly awaiting the aforementioned hotfix.

I am guessing since it is a "Fix" then in fact they are not working as intended. A little deductive reasoning on my part ;)

Reasoning and common sense don't seem to have a place here as we have consumables that the devs stated were never going to be in the game and we are apparantly getting 3rd person view which they also stated would never be in game.
I was just curious, as I have no time to search forums for a post about LRMs at work today, if its true they are going to fix it or if this is working as intended.

No biggie my friend. Was not trying to insult you just having a little fun was all. I read on their update. Its a fix to the LRM damage.

We are currently assessing the increase in LRM/SSRM/SRM damage currently on the live production servers. Expect an official response later today. A hot fix is likely this week.

UPDATE: We will be pushing through a hot fix tomorrow at 10am PDT. Changes will be posted tomorrow.

UPDATE 2: We worked late into the night last night testing out some new values. The test build is currently being pushed to the test servers and we plan to bring down servers at 16:00 PDT (23:00 UTC) for a hot fix. Estimated downtime - 30mins.

Actually, LRMs are not broken. PGI is just secretly testing the new Golden LRM ammo, which will be available next month for MC.

However, PGI will insist that this is not pay to win, because they will also give players the option to spend 15,000gxp to obtain equally powerful ammo for a Cbill cost of 40,000 per ton.

(forgive me if someone has already made this joke here, I am coming into this thread late)

Yeah, it's kind of like free Premium Time.
Speaking of free premium time, I wish MWO would do what WoT does and grant a free day of premium to account holders with premium time running when the game patches. Also, a few days or a week reimbursement would go a long way to easing the fact I'm sort of sorry I bought another batch of 30 days last night before I knew what a mess this was...

I buy premium time one day at a time since I can't play for several days in a row for more than ten hours of that time. So on a day off I usually pick up one day of promo and activate it.

Thanks for the update, Bryan - can you give us any hints as to what you're tweaking? Damage numbers? Splash radius? Both?

Garth seems to be updating this thread semi-regularly.

Heaven knows why they're not coordinating and updating an Announcement thread instead.

Edit: Thontor you ;) !

I think it'd be funny if they rolled back credits/XP gained from using LRM's, 'cause you know, it's not like they don't know who've been using 'em.

This is really going to mess with people's stats. There are going to be players thrown into crazy fights post patch if they abuse it. Glorious.

ECM might be OP but its not gamebreaking.

The missile damage most certainly is gamebreaking..

ECM is actually closer to gamebreaking, since it alters the overall mechanics of how the game can be played just by being present in a match; while the current high damage and head hits from missiles is unbalanced and annoying, it doesn't fundamentally alter gameplay - LRMs were always dangerous and so were direct-fire sniper weapons like Gauss Rifles and U/ACs, and all of those can be avoided by proper use of cover.

Of course, a key difference is that while both ECM and LRMs are unbalanced presently, the LRM issue is an unintended bug, while ECM is a feature being tested, albeit one that has been left in its initial state for a very long time without any direct adjustments to its performance (presumably to test the TAG and PPC effect tweaks as soft counters.)

PGI has reimbursed premium time for unscheduled down time in the past.

My point was more Wargaming does it for SCHEDULED downtime as well, it's not as if you can decide "hey they're patching today, I need to deactivate my 30 days of premium before they do it" granted WG has patches that take at least 2-4 hours.

They aren't doing it for everything else that's abused. So NTY. It's my role's turn to be OP, at least for the 2 days it had.

Well I hope while your fixing the problem with the lrms that you give the ecm a once over. Nerfing one while leaving the other as is wouldn't be very fair. There has to be a balance between the two.

I really wish they would publish announcements and important dev posts straight to the main MWO page, just like the ISN fluff.

Can I ask a question?

How did all the missiles even suddenly get like this? They were working fine for the longest time and, as far as I can remember, there hasn't even been any changes to the LRMs recently.

Someone offered some possible reasons - some loose code regarding the upcoming artillery strikes and the related splash damage might have interfered, the changes to how missiles damage legs etc. It's probably a code glitch somewhere but according to Garth's reports it's already been fixed in-house at this time.
