Patch notes don't say anything about a twist SPEED reduction. They only mention a reduction in total angle. Tell the OP to read patch notes all you want, it still won't address his issue.

I simile for every tear a cat pilot sheds!

now we wait for the raven.

I am already crying about the loss of my 4X.

I have piloted a 4X since they were first introduced. I piloted it when people said 4X was the worst raven because its hardpoints. I piloted it when people said 4X was the worst raven because it had no ECM.

But now, I have finally changed my mind.

Since the new patch I get legged almost every match.

Unless I drive a 3L there is not much use playing.

Thank you for everyone mentioning to read the patch notes. This might have been semi-useful information if I hadn't already read the patch notes and already noticed that torso twist SPEED is never mentioned, only torso twist ANGLE. So maybe those suggesting to read the patch notes should first read the notes themselves??

Bout to log in and try and arm/torso lock thing, see if that dosn't speed me up a bit.

Edit: That did it. Everything's back to happy fun blow up time.

Not here, it's like trying to pilot an assault mech. Even with arm lock off, the camera moves about and the torso twist lags way behind.

It may force you to rethink you build, but doesn't engine size determine twist speed? If so add a bigger engine and drop a few tons of missile ammo. It will force better play by requiring more precise shots.

I run with XL 300 for my C1, 315 on my A1, can't get any bigger than that.

Check in the options for Arm Lock. This locks your arms with your torso when aiming with your mouse. This option is on by default after this weeks patch. Simply turn it off.

it was the first thing i did when launching my first post-patch game. The patch notes says the cats lost some degrees in the amount that they twist, not that they also twist slower now, even though they do

Turning off arm lock does not change torso twist speed. Your arms will move quicker than the torso then slow as syrup the torso catches up. Its broke if it was intended it is another poor change.

unless they nerffed the engine that's been in it for months too, i dont think that's the issue.

Logged in and played a game for the first time in a little while, and my catapult now moves as if it is slogging through jello. Why am I torso twisting so painfully slow now? Lights were annoying enough as it was, now I have no chance of aiming one down to get a shot off.

unless you're running a k2 or don't have the basic unlocks there shouldn't be a difference

Before the nerf the torso felt connected to the crosshairs, not totally in line but close enough that you would never lose the them. Now you can get the camera from one side of the cockpit to the other before the torso can catch up, and the crosshair is totally out of view. I've noticed it a little with the raven as well (not as bad, since it's a light) so i'm wondering if it's something to do with the new arm lock function. On mechs with arms like the treb they seem zippy as all hell.

Setting the armlook to "on" by default was the decision of a genious.

Please note: There is sarcasm hidden in the above sentence.

I bet you would have set it to "blue."

Silly.

catapults were nerfed, their torso twist reduced.

But he said speed, Ie. 'moves paintfully slow,' so he is clearly experiencing a bug.

OP, please issue a bug/support ticket, as:
  • The CPLT-A1, CPLT-C1, and CPLT-C4 have had their torso twist angle reduced from 140 to 120.
That shouldn't make you feel like you're 'slogging through jello.' Thanks.

I made a shot video of the problem i'm having, notice how i can get the camera and the HUD all the way to the side of the cockpit and the crosshars lag waaaay behind? It never used to happen like that...

Granted that was in the testing grounds, it's a _little_ better with the mech tree unlocked, but still feels wrong.

And for the record, this is happening with other mechs as well ... except on mechs with arm actuators the arm crosshair moves much faster and almost keeps up with the centre of the HUD. It's like the game suddenly decided that the cat should twist like a mech with arms, but it has none so it's gimped (also happens with other armless mechs, stalker, raven etc). The twist speed on the cat before the patch made up for the lack of arms, now it doens't.

I think torso twist speed is bugged. My Cent-A turns slow as all hell right now

I'll confer that the catapult dose indeed 'feel' as if it's torso twist speed was reduced. Obviously it's difficult at this stage to give a quantifiable metric. I'll have a play with it using arm lock on and off.
