Case Broken And Ac Splash Damage?

First of I got destroyed several times by what looked like an ammo explosion. "Damaged by ammo explosion" and the paper doll shows that not only a side torso but also centre torso is destroyed. Since the ammo was CASEd and I ran a standard engine this shouldn't happen. It might of course be other eM beffects (see the many discussions on LRhaviour) that caused it. Other people noticed this?
During another fight I got heavily damaged by what looked like my own AC20. The damage in the end-screen mainly showed my own ballistic and missile weapons, not those of the mech I was (very close in) fighting with. Are AC's supposed do splash damage?

Because, ammo explosion deaths at the current moment are dealt like that.

your ammo still explodes it just doesn't damage the arm or CT attached to it (if you have an XL you still go boom)

The same match i saw quite a few other mechs dying from ovious ammo explosions...Atlas's getting hit in the missle rack where ammo is usually kept and blowing...Catapult A1's getting thier torso's grazed by a medium laser and blowing, Etc.

This is *almost* how it should work.
Ammo crits in the legs should be passed to the appropriate side torso, IE; Left leg damage should transfer to the left torso. If that triggers an LT ammo explosion, then that should be stopped by case.
meaning, the left torso is getting blown off regardless (assuming there is enough ammo remaining to kill the leg, and torso). Case should be stopping all ammo explosion damage (from a side torso) from passing into the CT, though I believe ammo stored in the arms or legs should be bypassing Case in the side torso.
IE:
if you have 5 rounds of AC/20 ammo remaining in your left leg, and someone crits that, it should be doing 100 damage to your mech. The damage transference should pass from internal left leg -> external left torso -> internal left torso -> external CT -> internal CT. Having Case in the LT, should not stop an ammo explosion in the Leg from damaging the CT. However Case in the LT should stop an ammo explosion in the LT from passing to the CT
I believe that is the rule.
I'm not sure that is what is currently being employed by PGI in practice though.
