I don't know if the discussions about Poptarting would be best moved to the Loadouts section if they are considered to be JumpJet threads, or in the Mechs section about Cataphracts, highlanders, and Catapults.... but it would do well in a Tactics section.

This isn't meant to draw in new players. It's meant to dismantle forumrage and criticism. It'll probably work.
They decided to burn down the forest instead of having to deal with their customers.
Indeed it certainly seems that way.

Many of the subforums (like the Faction-Specific ones) are unnecessary and are pretty deserted.
I would have gone for a more targeted approach while maintaining an overall theme to each area.
This is probably how I would have gone:
Help, Guides, and Tutorials:
Rules & Tutorials
New Player Help
Battlemech Builds, Guides, and Help
Strategy, Tactics, Maps, & Teamwork
Developer's Corner:
Ask the Devs
Magazine Articles, Interviews, & Dev Blogs
Announcements & Service Status
Patch Notes
-Patch Feedback
Patch Archive
Mechwarrior: Online Support & Feedback:
Hot Topic Feedback
Suggestions & Polls
Website & Forum
Support Workarounds
Hardware, Accessories & Peripherals
MWO Universe:
Inner Sphere Communications Network (General Discussion for Inner Sphere)
Pentagon Worlds Clan Communications (General Discussion for Clans)
Mercenary Review & Bonding Commission (General Discussion for Mercenary Units)
The Periphery
Community Communications:
Battletech Lore, Novels, & Games
Fansites
Fan Audio, Video, Fiction, and Art
Off-Topic Discussions
-Forum Fun
-Jettisoned Communications
(Then your International Forums)
Current Forums: 25 Forums, 32 Subforums
My Outline: 22 Forums, 3 Subforums.
Just my input.

The new forums are garbage. We've discussed ad nauseum how splitting the player base is bad. What makes mincing the forums any different?

How about the Barracks? This seems like the place to discuss how particular tactics have worked out.
We're reading everyone's feedback on these changes and will do our best to respond to concerns accordingly.
How about no.

I thought about that, but the Barracks might be best reserved for discussing actual combat that took place, instead of discussing how people feel about game mechanics balance and hypotheticals...
... I mean, if someone wants to talk about the general concept of Poptarting, then it's not Patch Feedback and it's not really a debriefing thread... I dunno... it seems like the current General Discussion subtopics are too object-oriented (Mechs, items, maps, etc.) and not sufficiently action-oriented. Meh, it might be a minor deal.

This is the problem with the new forums.
There are a million sub forums and no one has any idea where to look. And the most recent topic to the right may be anything from mech loadouts to *snicker* game mode discussion.

No no, it's a good point, and you're not the only one who has brought this up. We've changed the name of that section to "Tactical Debriefing Room" with this in mind.
Tactical discussions as you've described would be quite appropriate in this section. Does that work?
Well... wouldn't a discussion about Gameplay tactics warrant placement in the Gameplay Discussion subsections? The Barracks is currently distinct from the Gameplay Discussion forums, and so seems more fit for discussing Poptarts and Sniping purely from the standpoint of that match you just had, and not as a general discussion about major gameplay observations and features.

The amount of sub forums is just.... silly.
I'm sorry, it just turns me off. I can not find the energy to even begin to navigate it tonight. I am going to switch off for the night and perhaps have another try tomorrow when I am less tired.
I think you have tried to solve the negativity of the general forum, which is a worthy goal. But you have gone to far and it looks like you are deliberately obfuscating the forums to just shut people up.
Bring back the general forum until you can come up with a sane forum structure.
