Lets just say I sent an email to an email address in one of the scripts, informing the recipient that the install function was not functioning properly. I didn't intend to have the recipient take the site down.

Keep in mind, since the bulk of the javascript running static.mwomercs.com is based on ChromeOS's filesystem API... it wouldn't be hard for anyone to get an updated version of the script, match the changes made on the static version... and run it locally with the higher version.

The whole version thing was literally a hardcoded string with the value 'version 1.0.0'. Of course you could change the string in your copy of the javascript file but that won't have any significant impact.
All the important files related to the terminal have been taken offline anyway. (http://static.mwomer...r_manifest.json, http://static.mwomer...tar_terminal.js, even the css is gone). So unless anyone made a backup our fun is over :D

So it's your fault my plaything got taken offline before I made a backup? ;)

Grab the pitchforks people!

Heh, just kidding. We don't even know for sure that your mail caused it anyway.

Pretty sure that file never had any contents to begin with (atleast not in this version of the terminal). All of the files on there were 0kb and there weren't any codepaths that might have given them content in any way.

My guess is that what we saw was a fake / imperfect copy of whatever it used to do before put up after someone else figured the mistery out, as Hawkeye 72 said.

Agreed. I made a post about the terminal about a week and a half before the forums blew up about it. Back then I could upload files no problem, make my own directories, etc. etc. It had a lot more functionality. However I was occupied with other projects and didn't work with it too much. Odds are it was there for users who were clever and found it first. Once it went mainstream, the gig was up

again, their is no magic folders / uploads or anything, all is virtual, you drag and drop your file on your own system, and the folders you see are only an hard coded list of commands and folders, they dont exist outside of your own system

I know this. But at least the "commands" worked then. They stopped recently and now the whole site is gone.
