I am considering buying a new mouse for the arrival of MWO and have been looking around a bit for something to my liking, but without much luck.

While I do not know much about good gaming mouses things I know I am looking for are 1k+dpi, 4 button minimum, no wireless mouses, and of course something affordable (around $60 give or take).

Any help would be very much appreciated, and I know I can count on our awesome battletech community to help me out.

Well, four mice to consider sub-$65;

I personally would suggest the Logitech, but that is merely personal preference.

I would recomment you Roccat Kone if you prefer your mice bigger and more suited for long fingers, but I had two and both died long before the warranty ended.

I love my G300. It or the G500 are great choices. The G300 is smaller, but it works perfectly if you use a mousepad with a padded hand rest. It may be too small if your hand is truly massive however.

I got an old G5 and the 500 is pretty much an updated and slightly improved version of that. I lost count on how old mine is, but never a single problem, always fast or slow when you need it without to many gimmicks which only increase the chance of things breaking down ;)

I just got a Microsoft Wireless Mouse 5000. It was about $30 on Amazon new. It works very well.

they are pricy, but i can't even begin to complement razor on their mice, i have an impenetrator, and my friend uses a naga, both exellent pieces of kit, Logitec are a good brand,
Roccat are also another great mouse producer.

i suppose in the end, if you haven't had a gaming mouse before, get yourself out and get a middle of the road one just to see if you like it,
my impenetrator is a 6400dpi high accuracy mouse, i have a razor gaming mouse pad to work with it too. i don't think i could work with anything less than a 6400dpi scaled mouse anymore.

I was very satisfied with my G5 until it got too much dirt and crud stuck in it after many many years of use for the buttons to work anymore(if I could figure out how to take it apart without breaking it and clean it, I'd still be using it.)

Using a G500 now, very appropriate replacement for my G5

g500 is great! once you get a mouse with more buttons you'll always be wanting one with even more buttons.

G700 is amazing.

- 5700 dpi.
- Can be used as a wired and wireless mouse.
- Loads of buttons around it.
- Great for big hands.

- Sorry read the price as £60 as to $60. Might be a bit out of you price range as it would be more around $80/90

G400. All current production units do not have angle snapping. I replaced my mx518 with one and have had much better "luck" aiming since then.

I wore the little feet off my G5, but I just replaced them. My wife uses it now.
I love my G700, but it's expensive - I usually recommend the G500 to people looking for a solid, affordable gaming mouse.
My best mate bought a G500 on my recommendation and he's sworn never to go back to Razer, for whatever that's worth.

I'd recommend the G700. Got mine at a good price, however, at $70. Some have issues. I generally don't, provided the wireless sensor is close, but it does have an extension cord to help you with that. It acts as a wired or wireless mouse, and uses NIMH AA batteries, so no need for weird proprietary batteries (and they use the awesome Sanyo Eneloop ones). Although the battery doesn't last extremely long (about maybe 5-8 hours, but could be wrong), you can simply plug the wire in and it works as if its wired, at the same time it charges the battery.

Otherwise, the G500 and G400 are good as well.

Razer generally has finicky mice sensors, but there are exceptions. Avoid the Imperator and Mamba due to the finickiness. It's particularly due to the pick up and drop that has issues. It's a known problem (for years, but not reconciled). The Naga, although an MMORPG mouse, generally does not have the same problems, so it's not a bad pick among the Razer mice.

So much Logitech love. The G400 is the best mouse you can buy for the price, and it's fairly comfortable due to its familiar design.

Still using the RAT 3, such an awesome looking, cheap, and nice mouse. despite the fact that I wore down the logo where the palm rest, it still still runs well under gaming load. And always set to 3600 dpi. I prefer it for being cheap and pretty..

This is a little outside your range but it's worth it.

You have four buttons for your thumb, then 3 buttons for your pointer finger besides the usual left and right click. And you can program different profiles that you witch with a button in the middle of the mouse.

17 button naga. 5600 dpi lazer corded or wireless rechargable, both options on same mouse, its almost down to 60 bucks for the black one, best mouse on market. 12 buttons for weapons/groups/any key you might need to assign to them, on the thumb side of the mouse. 2 under the scroll wheen for important things, right and left mouse and the wheel itself as a throttle, maybe use wheel click for crouching. set mouse as weapons aim which will twist torso as needed, use wasd for mech steering and full throttl/stop/reverse settings. win!

http://www.newegg.co...N82E16826153095

at 75$ its 25% over budget, but its 1000% more awesome then any 60$ budget mouse.

at 5600 dpi i use it to snipe in my tank destroyer in wot at 500m (max seeing range) i might turn the dpi down just a little due to extreme sensitivity! its kind of overkill when they are tiney red dots.

Vulpesveritas gave a fair sampling of some good mice.

For my part, Logitech and Razer are both solid manufacturers, though I lean more toward Logitech; their mice seem to be more durable and less finicky whereas Razer can have some software quirks and wear out fast (weak plastic internals in some of them and hit/miss on cord quality) - though they do have a nice walkthrough regarding mice size and design. But everybody has their own experiences and either way each brand has about 90% satisfaction rating among their customers.

The problem with mice these days is that a lot of them are overloaded with too many buttons and all-too-often they are in bad locations for different users and their weights are deceptive. If you can, get some hands-on experience with different mice (at stores or friends/family) or at the very least use your previous/existing mouse to quantify what you liked and didn't like.

I have a Razer DeathAdder that has stood me in good stead for seven years. I've used a couple of different Razer mice and been very happy with all of them, in point of fact. Any of the Razer mice, I think, would be a good choice and are my recommendation.

Only reason I'm not using my DeathAdder now is because I won a Cyborg MMO 7, and based on my experience so far with it I can't say that any of the Cyborg mice would be a bad choice either.
