i see no problem with freinds sync dropping in a normal scenerio to play against/with eachother. Im specificaly talking about doing so with the express purpose to stack odds of winning contest in their favor

I think it would help if you made the topic more clear it was about doing it in tournaments, some people tend to look at topic and vote before actually reading the first post.

And also you should add to the poll "Not against the rules, but only lameass b*ttmonkeys would do it."

It's not against the rules and is allowed by the program, so it's fair game. If you don't find it enjoyable blame the game, not the player.

There are people in every game that need to explore every loophole to there advantage....
Not against a rule but painting a picture about them thats not looking good.

I dont blame them, i see it as some form of socialworking.
If this is the only way for them to have fun, they should do it, its like giving a hobo some coins....

S!

Could not care less if they do it for the puny amount of MC and 15 minutes of fame in a computer game :) Sync dropping is nothing compared to the screwed up elo system and what it does to MM, either way you are screwed.

I don't see it as unsportsmanlike conduct. As others have said its a team game. I believe that due to the lack of certain features for team players to interact is the reason you are getting sync dropping.

Wow, Against the Rules?

Damn, they better crack down on that Marik Monday Madness over on the NGNG TS3 server (6PM PST) that they do every week, where around 100 players (Marik and not) get together in Bay 16 to sync drop.

Bunch of F'in cheaters, that lot.

Shameless plug. Come join us, it's great fun.

It's allowed by the program only because there's no simple way to stop it.

It's technically against the rules of the tournament because it specifies 'Solo only.' It's just an unenforceable rule without either a huge (mostly wasted) investment of development time or an untenable amount of man hours and log analysis.

At best it's an underhanded tactic.

I play with a group of people who 4 man drop. In the TS of this group there will regularly have 5 to 9 drop ships (channels) of 4 man drops. Once or twice a night we might see another drop ship in the TS against us and its always good friendly fun. Only once in the time I have been with them have we dropped into a game and been teamed with another of these drop ship channels. I have attempted to sync drop once with them and this only resulted in a game against friends once more. As for intended Sync dropping intentionally I can see the use of attempting a 5 man drop, but your still going have a good chance of be against your friends.

The biggest factor is that PGI cant or wont do anything about it. When that happens the old "if you cant beat 'em then join 'em" reigns. If you want to be on the leader board then you have to be better or out wit the guys on the top.

So, join a sync dropping clan and bend/break the rules and collect your phat lewt from PGI.

I would be surprised if there wasn't something in the EULA that made it a bannable exploit.

I think tagging mechs to get the bonus when you have no interest in supporting the LRMs is more unsportsmanlike than sync dropping.

But mostly because I didn't think of it first.

So, pertaining to real life, If you can take advantage of someone and get away with it because no one does anything about it....does that make it ok? Ill blame the player because the player knows its cheap weather its allowed or not.

All that aside..... I dont even know what sync dropping is ..LMAO!

Short version, a collection of players who are not grouped (or grouped as 4) synchronize pressing the launch button trying to subvert the matchmaking process (for 8 mans) or single player restriction for the tournament in order to stack the deck and all be on the same side/drop.

People that sync drop only do it because they are not good enough to play a fair 8v8.

I love the way most try hiding the fact they are doing it by changing thier faction to lone wolf, im akways suspect a sync drop when i see 8 lone wolfs on 1 team.

I love the other end of that, when you have a large house community that has a large number of 4 and 8 man groups dropping at random, when eventually they happen to enter the same match at the same time, you get accused of syncing and the subsequent "REPORTED" if we're on the same side, or "SYNC FAIL, REPORTED" if we're on opposing sides.

Wait... is Marik the only one with that problem? :P
