Do we have to pick them right from the get go when first logging in on the July 17th, or will we be able to play every possible mech (including their normal couterpart variants) before we make our pick?

I don't really want to make a pick before i have an idea how good or bad each mech is compared to others on his own class.

The only ones who know the answer to that question are the devs. I suspect that either were going to get all 4 mechs (which is unlikely) or when you log in you will have to choose one of them.

Hopefully, we don't get to pick them until the game itself goes gold, so that way we'll have plenty of time to test them out in the beta.

That one they answered. Not only we get to pick only one, but you can't buy the pack 4 times to get all 4. Unless you have 4 accounts, that is, but i suspect that the 'mechs will be bound to account.

The game is already in beta and still there are really few info about it. The only thing that seems to be clear is that they seem to be ready to milk the cow. Maybe this approach will create Hype but on my side it's starting to have the opposite effect.

I'm guessing we will play in the beta until the wipe/ early relases benefit we get from the founder package.

Then start fresh with our Starter mech and our Founder mech. My plan is to use the Beta (once I get in) to determine which mechs is best the for me.

They already confirmed that once the founders players are let in (July 17th) there will be no more wipes. Beta status will flow over into full game no reset apparently.

Yeah that is not how I took what they said.

I believe that July 17th is the "Early Release" date.

As I understand it...Founders get into Beta sometime after June 19th when the founders deals go on sale, before July 17th. Then the wipe just before July 17th. Then the Early Access starts on July 17th and all progress from that point on will not be reset.

I don't see anything about that... only:

Quote

OPERATION INCEPTION assets and early game access will be available for ELITE or VETERAN Founder's Package players starting July 17th.

But nothing about Beta before then.

Right...Early game access on July 17th. Not Beta access on July 17th.

Early game access with the ability to add our Founders mech and keep any progress we make.

So I'm guessing they plan to have Beta wrapped up by July 17th, and kick off the "Early Access" part of Launch.

The program is purchasable on June 19th and you gain guaranteed access to the closed beta on July 17th.

We shall name this "Operation: Confusion"

Operation: Confusion is right. Still not clarification on the European thing.

Ok I stand corrected and confused.

Maybe they will do their last wipe before July 17th.

Then the Closed Beta from July 17th on will be considered the "Early Access"...which will roll into Launch.

I find it really hard to believe the folks in Beta now will not see a wipe before July 17th.

You might be able to wait a while before grabbing your founders Mech. But your kinda committed every time you buy a Mech.

They aren't excluding the Europeans, It'll probably lag though, so they can't guarantee you'll have fun.
They're looking into getting a EU server.
Since they haven't decided how to do the EU server they can't answer about account transfer. Because they don't know.

Whats to be confused about?

I would find it hard to believe they wont wipe beta before early access. it would be the only comercial game ive ever heard of that did this. it would also severly lower my confidence in the dev teams ability to ballance things later on.

ISN has to have miss-spoke when they did Operation: Confusion..er..Clarification. Beta's are test builds that get wiped when testing is done. Since the servers are not getting wiped after July 17th and will be going live with that build, it's technically no longer a Beta. So Founders get Early Access for sure on July 17th, which is not a "beta" and Founders are not guaranteed beta access of any kind. Just an incorrect and confusing use of the word Beta in that ISN post.

I don't see why all 4 is unlikely. For all you know each person gets 1 of each mech class by default. Think about it, how would a new player know they like a certain mech class and train up the skills or buy new mechs if they are unable to test them out?

I'm putting money on the Founder mechs being the sort of "starter" mechs that everyone gets. Founders simply get a visually different 4, added to the 4 people already get.

Another question are we sure that we will not be able to buy more then 1 founders pack? June 17th is basically my graduation date so I might have more cash then sense at that particular moment :( and want to buy 2. I did a bit of forum searching but it seems the devs are busy working on E3 stuff and couldn't find anything, but my forum search fu is weak.

MechWarrior Online™ Founder’s Program goes on sale June 19th. It will offer die-hard fans of this beloved franchise valuable benefits including: in-game currency, a custom BattleMech™ ("ELITE" level only)... $60 ELITE Founder's Package Includes: Exclusive custom "Founder's BattleMech." This 'Mech includes a lifetime, per-match C-Bill booster.

Emphasis is mine, but it is pretty obvious that Founders will only get ONE O:I BattleMech.

Also I don't think we get "starter" 'Mechs. This isn't like WoT where there's a Tech tree you have to go up before you can get certain 'Mechs. More than likely we'll start with enough C-Bills to buy one or two 'Mechs and we can buy any 'Mech we want. These O:I 'Mechs are just in addition to whatever we buy, and they are unique with slightly different hardpoints, loadouts and obviously skins (confirmed by dev).
