Can't decide what mech I should pick up next. Looking at a few, and they all have advantages and disadvantages.

STK-(any variant)
+ I have one already and love it, unlocking elite would make it more betterer
+ Lots of fitting options
- Big slow fat target that dies a lot
- Expensive to level up two STK's

JM6-A
+ Definitely my kind of mech; CPLT C1 and K2 met in a bar and this was the result
+ Dominates Tourmaline and Alpine
- Gets dominated everywhere but Tourmaline and Alpine

AS7-RS
+ Every other game I wish the team had a competent 100 ton brawler
+ Would let me experiment with 4x PPC chainfire mayhem
- Not sure if 100 ton brawler would work for me

RVN-3L
+ Troll 4X is a glorious thing, and it would be even better with ECM and a one-by-one LRM20
+ Cheap for a "tech 2" variant
- ECM is bad, mmkay?
- Still expensive for a for-the-lulz toy

DRG-(any variant)
+ Big maps favor speed and I'm lacking a good skirmisher
+ Probably gonna get a Flame while they're on sale and this would take me closer to unlocking elite
- Bad brawler and many games become brawls

CTF-2X
+ I have a 4X and love it, having AC20 or Gauss+2xPPC would be fun
+ One step closer to elite, and helps me train for Ilya if/when they go on sale
- Already have a CTF so it's nothing new

Choose wisely, for future generations are depending on your wisdom!

It might be helpful to lose some words about the mechs you already have and your play style preferences.

But I just go for the jagermech --> DAKKA

The JM6-A is fun to use, but I would recommend just saving up for a highlander.

I have a random collection of toys: Foundercat, 8Q, 4SP, 4N, YLW, 4X (both), K2

As far as playstyle, I do just about everything except 'proper' light mechs as I'm not twitchy enough to make it work.

Hrm... do you have any Jenners?

Jenners are fun. Slap in a 280XL or larger in a 7F, and go wild with 1.3-1.4 heat efficiency with 6MLs and DHS. Add in speed tweak... and fun ensues.

7D makes a good light hunter with the same setup, except replace 2 MLs with 2 SSRMs. Any light not running ECM (read; most of them) will DIE.

Invest all the monies into research efforts for a real life neurohelmet and let your imagination run wild, virtually of course. :P

+1 for an amusing read on the poll options.

I voted Dragon, because I figured not many would  It's challenging to use and doesn't play like anything else in the game really, so it can be fun when it's not frustrating.

It you want something that can be flexible and focused, then the Cataphract is the way to go. It is a good Gundam, and has a nice hero variant if you ever feel like dropping some non-space bux on something.

I didn't vote Atlas or Stalker just because you really need good team support to do well in assaults so they're sort of hit-or-miss sometimes.

I don't think I need to explain why I didn't vote Raven :P

If I had a limited selection of mechs I would get the phract for its versatility. You can do JJ in the 3D, missiles on the 2X, and energy and ballistics to round them all out. The Ilya is the best hero mech available if you decide to go that route. 70 tons allows for many different combos of weapons and engines, depending on how you like to play.

The Jager is fun and effective, but has limited build options.

The dragon can be fun, but 10 million is too much money to be saddled in a sub-par chassis. When they bring knockdown and dragon-bowling back, well... that will be a different story. I also feel that the Flame is the best variant. My advice is that if I wasn't getting the Flame, I wouldn't bother with dragons.

Like Warrax said about assaults, it can be hit-or-miss because of your reliance on your team. For PuGs I would go with a heavy chassis for the mix of firepower and speed.

The raven was fun but I haven't played it much since mastering it. It was broken for too long and I didn't want to spread the frustration I was feeling about it around to new players. That and the non-3L variants suck to level. I've had more of a challenge and more fun in my spider. When you do well in a raven, nobody cares. When you do 500+ dmg in a spider and 2-3 kills, that's an accomplishment that people notice.

Good luck and good hunting!

I highly recommend Dragon Lady's, especially the Thai variety. Just don't get them confused with Lady Boys or you will be quite surprised.

From what you've said, I'd say you'd most likely be successful in a mech you feel good in, i.e. the Mech Jagger. No point piloting anything if you get no satisfaction.

See what I did there? :P

Buy a Cicada.

If you must pick one of the choices you provided, I say go Jager. You said it yourself: "Definitely my kind of mech."

OH, you meant the dragon mech and... not... a... fine lady from draconis combine... DAMN YOU INTERNET.

See, these are the moments when I'd very much like a "like button" for the poll, cause it's a complete internet win.

Calling the 4X a troll does it a great dis-service, as it is so much more then a simple troll. In the right hands it is a machine of unparallelled power; an absolute monster.

4X is my mech of choice. Last game I played I scored 5 kills, 2 assists, most damage on the winning team.

I vote get the 3L , so you can master your 4X. Then sell your L3, because the 4X is the only raven you will ever need.
