An idea for PGI to add to our mech bay. an Armoury so we can look at what weapons, and engines we have without having to go into a mech to see which you have, or having to go into a certain mech to see if you have a small enough, or large enough engine. Would make it easy for selling extra weapons, HS, engines etc. Also would solve a problem i just ran into. Sold my Awesome 9M. it had the XL-385, didnt sell the engine. So now I have no other mech that can handle the engine and I cant sell the engine off or do anything with it, having an armoury would be a nice addition i think. being able to look at what you have without having to go into a mech to do so.

Just an idea.

In "ask the devs 34" this is a question and with the implementation of UI 2.0 there will be an option to see (sell) all of your equipment without having to go to load out.

http://mwowiki.org/i...title=Main_Page It's a database. The above post is a good BattleMech construction simulator.

People suggesting databases, smurfy, et al, are missing something.

Let's say I'm a newbie. I've bought my first mech, let's say a CN9-A. I've tinkered with the load out, and decided that double sinks are a big priority. In the meantime, I'm still rockin' the stock 200 engine. I scrape up the 1.5 million C-Bills for the heat sink upgrade, and I go for it. I did not pull the excess single sinks before I upgraded. Right now, I can't even look at those single heat sinks. I can't access them in any way. They are sitting in my inventory, and I can't so much as sell them until I downgrade my mech's heat sinks or buy another mech with singles.

Does that strike anyone else as stupid?

They're not missing anything. That is stupid but there's nothing we can do about it right now and for now smurfy is the best way to view stats.

Anyways, the money you get back from selling single heat sinks is really pretty modest. Does that excuse the current implementation? No. However, for now all we can do is wait for UI 2.0, coming SoonTM.

I for one want to see a resurrection of the Virtual World arcades...
they had cool replicas of weapons and mech parts hanging on their walls
hige immersive pods to pilot your mechs in
leaderboards
and a bar...

No no, I know exactly what you mean. The database though, can help alleviate this problem a bit. You can go in and buy a Mech, and know what you want to buy for it beforehand. So there's a higher chance not to run into problems.

Different scenario:

Let's say I the only mech I owned was a Catapult A1. I stripped out the LRMs for SRMs. The LRMs are sitting in my inventory. I sell off the A1 and buy a K2. I now have LRM launchers in my inventory that I can't do crap with unless I buy another mech with missile hard points. This is just straight up bizarre. We aren't talking about the chump change involved in single sinks, LRM15s are 350k a pop. Two of them is enough to cover almost half the cost of a DHS upgrade, or is enough for an ERPPC with some change left over.

Yes an armoury is definitely a must.

How about a well structured and working mechbay/mechlab? That would of course include an 'amoury' or whatever you'd call the window which shows your possessions.
Right now the mechlab is just too much style, too little content.

I must be missing something, why can't you sell the equipment you've removed?
If you look at the load out screen for any mech you can see what excess equipment you have available, and you can sell it.

Okay, I might see what I'm missing. The mech your using has to be able to mount the equipment your looking for, could be a problem if you have limited numbers of mechs, but it really only affects the upgrade items.

Ofcourse a Farcry 2 style armoury where your equipment appears around the walls (or on racking) would be nice, we might be waiting a while though.

No, it affects every non-energy weapon system in the game. If you don't have any mechs with missile hardpoints you can't sell any missile launchers you had in storage. Death's Knell, any Spider, Jenner F, Yen-Lo-Wang, any Cicada except for the X-5, 4G and 4H Hunchbacks, Ilya Muromets, the K2 Catapult, the S and DD Jagermechs, the 1X and 3D Cataphracts, and the 8Q Awesome have no missile hardpoints. There are also several mechs with no ballistic hardpoints.

You can have a surprisingly full garage, and not be able to sell missile launchers. Or ACs.

Well, with the idea of an Armoury I'd like the following as part of that new UI:

1) Strip Mech - One button strip to put all equip-able items into the Armoury.

2) Profiles - Would like to be able to save my mech load-out/config and then load it from the Armoury. If the parts are on another mech it generates an error or loads it and you have the option to buy the parts with C-bills/MC.

3) Rearrange Mechs - I'm sure I'm not alone in the fact I have bought and then sold a mech I no longer play or want as part of the grind to Master. Would sure be nice to slide my mechs around so they are in order from lights to assaults or something.

Yes, yes it does.

It most definately strikes me as stupid, too.
