Does anyone else feel like the side torsos of the stalker pop too easily? Every time I pilot one it seems like my CT rarely takes damage before my side torsos and with once I lose one (which is relatively soon in games) the CT pops right after.

Does anyone else think the torso hitboxes on the stalker needs some adjusting?

Any chance you are using a XL engine? I tried one out and was amazed at how easily I was killed; usually a few hits to the torso/center torso took me out. Switched back and I haven't noticed anything amiss since.

Side Torsos are way underarmored in this game. The reason is because MWO allows aiming and uses armor values based off tabletop values.

In tabletop a side torso only gets hit 14% of the time. In MWO a side torso potentially gets hit 100% of the time if your aim is perfect.

Now PGI did double armor. But double armor doesnt even begin to compensate for the fact youre taking upto 7 times more damage to your side torso than its armored to handle!

The Stalker has pretty massive side torsos. Take a look at the hitboxes (provided by this great thread).

Given their size, it's no surprise they pop pretty fast.

I went back to a standard engine for that same reason, sure you can carry more with xl but unless you're an owl it isn't worth it in my opinion.

maybe it's because people aim on the side torsos of Stalkers, like me. Many Stalkers are running XL Engines. Easier to destroy them by killing one of the side torsos

Being the biggest DPS mech out of the whole ame must come at some disadvantage.

And it's not like you can't prevent it, as a competent team can cover your sides while you unload doom on your opponents.

If your running a STD having those side torsos really benefit you. Imagine if they could actually shoot your CT from the side.

I was hoping stalker ST's would like the catapult so I could afford to run XL etc. Sadface when they are huge.

I hoped that too to an extent to brainlessly build a nice xl 310, and dying out so easily after mounting that :)

Seriously, besides the missile/srm nerf, Stalkers are pretty nasty no matter how you build them. They needed some kind of counter and imho they are quite balanced, besides the usual boaters that however have their weak spots (6 ppc stalkers being tremendously hot, lrm boaters with no backup weapons and easily doable under 180m and so on).

However I'd still agree to reduce side torsoes a bit and give some more room for the CT (not at all close to those of a catapult anyway), this just because there's literally no way to tank or protect them, like you can do in an Atlas or an Awesome.. there you can use your arms as shields.

Considering that Stalker has highest dps so far its a pretty fair trade . Try using 5 large lasers with FERRO-Fibrous armor +double sinks. Works great

For assaults you only really want to run XL engines if you're working as more of a support role like sniper or an LRM boat. If you're meaning to brawl the mech keep to the standard engines. The stalker does have HUGE hit boxes though and it's the main reason I would prefer a sniper role for mine. I've made my first one into a brawler and it's pretty damned good at the job. I'll usually down another assault running x3 SRM6 x4MPL and x2ML. It's a heat monster so I have to keep an eye on that, but I've had some incredible matches in it where I seem to just walk through opponents.

The biggest drawback for the Stalker to me is the very limited torso twist. You can't even look directly to your side with the thing. Maybe after I finish the elites and it doubles?

Interesting, just noticed from Smurfy that the STK-3F has 85 degrees of torso twist, but the other 4 variants (3H, 4N, 5M, 5S) have only.. 60 degrees?

Even Elite-level Twist X Efficiency (+20% torso twist range) will only raise it to 72 degrees for those other 4 variants, which means you still can't shoot directly to the side.. :)

As said...you have the most DPS or the most Alpha damage...the price for that is that you have a glass - cannon.

When DPS and HPS are fixed we could start to talk about the 90% hit probability of the stalker side toros and if there is a reason to increase them. Instead of the standard TT what is based on a chance of 17% to hit from the flank.

I just think that the sides and CT should be more in proportion since right now the CT is just a sliver and I never even take CT damage until after my sides are blown. Also, most stalker variants have little to no weapons in the CT so if it loses a side, it'd doubly crippled
