You can upgrade to the 9 by 9 which is exactly the same as the MC model. It's only 15,000 GXP.
Now, if they had continued the plan before the 9 by 9 was added thanks to community backlash, then you would have a point OP. I was among the most vocal against it.
Regardless, the pendulum swung the other way. Now the MC one is worthless, because it's way, way cheaper in the long run to just convert some XP and buy the 9 by 9s.
EDIT: I still like the suggestion that was floated around for a bit where there would be NO MC consumables, but the cbill ones are expensive (enough to stalemate you on lost drops) unless you're setup with premium time. I think that would have been a way to price things so PGI could make money without making anything pay required. But I'd take shooting the MC model in the foot over paying a quarter a flush.

Edit: BUT WAIT, there's more!! For the low, ongoing cost of premium time you too can offset the c-bill loss of using the 18 shot coolant EVERY MATCH! That's right, every match.
and as a bonus we'll throw in extra mech xp.......
(Note: c-bill bonus dependent on match performance, offsetting consumable prices not guaranteed)

It is not all that different from a seasoned mechwarrior punching override at the right point. Besides, a one shot cooling hit requires finesse to use right. It is hardly enough to 'win games'. Think of it this way...If one is running coolshot 18, they generally don't have the experience to unlock and run 9x9, therefore, they won't be able to manage heat as effectively anyway, making little to no difference to their performance...and if one is running 9x9, then they generally have a lot of experience, and can effectively manage heat without coolshot. Again, making little difference in their performance.

Now, as a Founder I too am a MC purchase ****** and have been stupid enought to buy MC, to buy a mech, play it for a few times, get tired of it and then SELL the stripped hull. Yea, I was tired and stupid. It was not a hero mech though.
I'm actually all for a way to purchase all standard gear with MC's because that's paying for convenience and not a pay to win - I just dont have the patience or TIME to grind 10-13 million for another Atlas.
But I never knew I could be insulted for buying things so that money (hopefully) goes to the continuing life of this game.
EDIT:
And no, you'll never find me buyng coolant - If I cannot manage my heat anymore then I'm out of the game.

The point where most people use them is when they're being smashed by multiple mechs and their heat is shutting them down. Of course when that happens it's pointless using it anyway because you're just going to get hammered anyway - one less shutdown or not.
I think coolant flush will very quickly become one of those occasional things that hardly anyone uses. Not thought out well at all really. I won't be trying it again - there's no point.

Only views from me. I run 9x9 on all my atlas builds, but forget to refit them 90% of the time. And I honestly don't notice any difference in performance. My mate said it perfect last night as we dropped, and I realised I forgot to fit it (again), he simply said "What difference does it make? You've played just as well before it".
It's more of a fail safe system, for me, it's just 'nice to have'...however, to attempt to keep this unbiased; PUGging in an atlas, most of my fights are 2-3 on 1 brawls, and it does help in those situations.

Mate, don't let such trivial things as facts get in the way of a good rant.
Real, honest to god Internet QQing is a therapeutic experience, venting your nerd-rage on all those other nerds and really stickin' it to them provides the sort of daily catharsis this community needs more of, so next time you intend to inject your so-called rationalism into this so-called forum, I suggest you have a long hard think about what you're about to do.

I'd interject with the following. What if that one extra alpha is difference between you and your opponent shutting down, or gives you that extra alpha which lands the killing blow? In situations such as the ones generated by this game, it's often the knife edge situations, and the small differences between player ability or Battlemech setup that dictate the winner and the loser.

Well, this is where it is about "Paying-for-Advantage" as opposed to "Pay-to-Win".
At the same time, everyone can get this with in-game money as well. It's no difference really from one player shelling out 1,5 mil for DHS.

Well if they were expensive, would PGI get us to try them? We are to test the features added, If we don't PGI doesn't get the data they are looking for.
