So I don't post often, but this has been driving me nuts since I started playing.
Is there a logical and rational reason we can delete only one letter (single character) at a time in Team and All chat channels? Am I missing something?
Every single other game I have played with a chat feature works just like Word, Wordpad, etc,... hold down the backspace key and it removes characters typed until you release it.
I cannot count the number of times I have been trying to type out a quick location message, get under contact and have to either send a partial and confusing message clogging the channel or frantically hammer the backspace key like a spastic monkey with the detox shakes..

Now before I put out the typical: "WTF PGI" is there some setting I am missing on my computer/ options menu or is the chat channel really that badly designed that this would pass through.

Anyone else or is this just me?

Cheers.

Ro.

They goofed this up a few patches ago and it's been driving me nuts. It worked fine before that.

Please fix the key repeat in the chat box. It's driving me bonkers.

Thank you!!!
I don't understand that either!
If you accidentally hit T or Z during a fastpaced fight and press a few of your WASD-keys, you have a problem.
Either press ESC and be out of control for a second or hammer DEL für a few seconds.
Both are things you usually don't like that much in an intense fight.
And why is DEL the only key that can't be be held down, but EVERY other letter can be... I just don't get it.

Thats how software development works. You fix a bug, and two others get in. That way programmers can keep their jobs.

This is probably the most pressing issue facing MWO at the moment.

I realised I've been playing MWO a bit too much, when i caught myself repeatedly pressing backspace in Chrome, instead of holding it down.

It is PGI's awesome programming skills that allow this "feature" to happen.

Because that's an entirely reasonable thing to have to do in order to fix one typo in the middle of a sentence, just type the whole damn thing over again.

Need devs like you so this game fails even faster.

This is a perfect example of how their lackluster programming skills are further damaging the human mind.

It has to be stopped, one way or another.

While I agree it's silly that holding backspace does nothing, it's a good habit to do as suggested: Ctrl+A (select all), hit backspace once and all your text is gone. It's faster than holding backspace if it worked as intended too. Just sucks when you only want to remove a part of your text instead of all of it :(

I'd like to see anything you've coded.

Ctrl + Shift + left/right to select words.

The ability to just press delete and have all the characters erased is just OP. Totally EZ-mode. Thats why everyone wants it. I am glad that it has been nerfed. Learn2Delete guys. Seriously. I applaud PGI's attempts at chat balancing.

It's because they think it's funny to review game logs that have "Xtrekker: WWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWDDDDDAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAASDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWASDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDWWWWWWWWWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW" in them. I'm sure it's going to be in the blooper vid.
