I'd like to see a mode that has a lance of 4 players square off against an organized group of 4 in a smaller arena. It would be a given to expect both teams to be using voice communications.

In order to promote the idea of fair play there should be a tonnage limit for this mode something in the order or 250 tons. One possible breakdown for that limit is 100 tons, 65 tons, 50 tons, and 35 tons. As you can see that fits nicely with the mechs we have available right now.

Considering you can plan the entire team there really shouldn't be any upset players in terms of a fair match. Only a disconnect or map bug is going to prevent a fair game. On that note the game should not start if all 4 players do not enter the match for both teams.

The unfortunate truth is that the current Elo matchmaker ruined the game for 4 man groups. There is no longer any balance in terms of weight. There has never been an ECM balance to the MM and this does not help either. Game balance is completely destroyed when one team has four lights (probably all with ECM) and the enemy team has none. This weight imbalance happens over and over and over; sometimes you see 6 assaults vs 6 mediums and that almost always ends with a landslide win for the assaults.

There is no magic formula that is going to tell you how well an assault player can perform that will allow you to evenly match him against a better medium pilot. If you did have that magic formula it would only tell you how well he can do with a specific weapon setup vs specific enemy builds (and you don't track that data). Not to mention such data would be irrelevant except against any specific enemy (because reflexes and knowledge levels differ among all pilots).

I know you guys feel Elo was a good change for the game. All I have seen is that it creates many more problems than it solves and as such I wish it would go away. Since I know you aren't going to do that I ask that you institute at least one mode that focuses on lance combat.
