I voted for it. Hopefully my arguments on here will help convince the devs it's worthwhile. I certainly don't think the other modes are suitable for competitive play, they're too easy to exploit. They'll almost certainly change before CW goes live, but I doubt they'll match the variety TDM allows.

You seem quite against allowing people disagree with you in the poll. Is this because you're worried having 1 yes, and 1 no option, wouldn't get the 100% yes votes, that two yes options is getting you?

There is only one yes vote. You seem to have trouble with basic reading and comprehension. Is there a reason why you keep grasping for the straws? You havent been right any of the times you said it.

I used to be anti-TDM for all the reasons stated. But now I think we might as well give it a try. Do I think it will really add a lot to the game? No. But I don't it will take away from the game too much either. Medium mechs are already so underrepresented in matches that their absence from TDM won't matter anyway.

Yes, it can only improve the game. More modes is a good thing. Adding TDM would mean 62% of the player base will be happier, and wont quit playing.

So, do you consider "I don't care" the same as no?

Funny, I don't remember the poll choices being 1. If I don't get TDM I will quit playing 2. I will continue playing without TDM.

Good luck Teralitha.

The vote isnt going the way Mal wants, so he is QQing.

No, it doesn't. The second option clearly says "I won't be playing it." But since I leave my came mode filter set to "All" I would be playing it 30% of the time. The second option doesn't apply to me. I need an option which says "I would play it if it were available because I leave my mode set to all, but I don't want a team deathmatch because it is a stupid idea."

The other vote isn't for "everyone else" it's for people who don't care, there are people who do care, but don't agree that it should be added.. this would be the 'no' vote that you didn't add.

I'm not mad the vote isn't going my way, because with the two yes options, it's impossible for a vote to be 'no'. I'm just pointing out that your poll is biased, and you refuse to admit it.

To illustrate why there are no options that apply to me, consider the following scenario:

You are playing MechWarrior Online using a device connected to a screen. Your husband/wife/spouse/civil unionmate/boyfriend/girlfriend/friend/roommate/someone you have never met/other bursts through the door and says, "Hey, Teralitha, I am going to switch the input over to a different one and watch [content type and IP] which you despise. Is that OK?"

Do you answer:

1) Yes.

2) I don't watch that, so I don't care.

If you dont like a game mode, you can play another, so what the point of having a "no" option? its just for people who like to argue for the sake of arguing. So if your not going to play TDM, your going to play a different mode. so the options are correct.

I find it funny that the person who has been starting a new "Get rid of Alpha strikes" thread every day this week trying to ram it down everyone's throats regardless of what they want is totally adverse to anyone telling her/him what to do regardless of what he/she wants.

There are lots of reasons people might not want TDM in the game or want anyone else playing it.

There is no happy fun time, tickle me Elmo game mode and even if half the player base wanted it I wouldn't want the developers spending time on it.

The same argument has been used in the 3rd person threads, "You don't have to use 3rd person so why does it matter to you?"

There are other more important game modes they should be spending time on, not something almost the same as the craptastic ones we have now.

I think if the dev's just did the opposite of whatever Teralitha thinks is good the game would be great because I disagree with just about everything he/she says.

Biased poll. Put in a "no" option.

First post here guys and I speak for quite a few new players that were very disappointed to hear that there was going to be no TDM. We were all pretty tired of walking away from the base at the beginning of the match just to have ours or the other teams base capped before any action took place. Its counter productive for both teams because nobody really wins. You get no Cbills and no sense of accomplishment. I really just don't see the point in even having a base in the first place.

And for you people that get so upset about people wanting TDM, its really not hurting anything to have more options. I for one would love TDM along with the 4 or 5 new people i have brought into this game since last month.

Seriously, think about where you end up fighting on any map. Even alpine peaks and tourmaline have certain areas fights always occur in. Why? Because if you don't sit between the enemy and your base you lose. If you split your force to try something clever like flanking their scout will spot you and your team will get rolled one half at a time. In TDM you'd be able to pull that half back, but in assault they have to stop the enemy from advancing...or you'll get capped. The enemy will just ignore the flankers, roll over the few mechs between them and the base and cap. This means most games play out roughly the same way...and it's boring. Is this really what you want for CW? HJ has even tested just rushing the enemy base. Literally ignoring the enemy team, running in a straight line to the enemy base and capping. It worked more often than not. Doesn't that tell you something?

TDM isn't going to be any different. I have proof of this:

Posted Image

That is the Mirage map from MechWarrior Living Legends. Team Deathmatch is one of the game modes there. That image shows where all of the combat happens in each and every map. The only combat that happens in the Purple or Blue parts are stray Aerospace Fighters that happen to run into each other after a strafing/bombing run in the center.

At least with Assault, lights have a reason to enter the auxillary areas to avoid the main melee and ping the base or even cap it.

You are still wrong guy... mission play was not TDM. You had objectives other than killing the enemy that ended the game. Its just like assault mode except with actual real bases(one base) with walls and turrets, or a dropship with turrets, or an HQ and a com tower to destroy. (they werent all the same)

I already have done it, alot. Its actually a pretty simple tactic easy done by even the worst of teams vs pugs. But its a forced game, its relies on the presence of bases, and pugs with zero coordination. TDM rules never apply in assault because of the bases. Im glad your enjoying it. But me I find it incredibly dull and boring lacking any real depth in strategy and tactics. Like your favorite tactic. No real depth or skill to it, and repetive. But hey you like it, and Im happy you like it. I dont like it, and want other modes of play, and so does 62.5 % of the player base.

You might want to try rereading what I said, I don't enjoy sitting in a base regardless of how effective it is. So refrain from the ad hominem attacks, my so called favorite tactics have yet to be revealed in this thread. Stick to the argument at hand.

And I didn't say for you to do what I did and use a group. Anyone can get 3 people to sit in a base with them. But I wanted to see you get 7 PUGers to sit back and perform Team Death Match. According to your poll, 2 out of 3 games should result in getting what you want. My challenge to you, was to see if that is actually the case.

So go into the game solo and see if 7 random PUGs will sit back with you and clean out any enemy that comes by. If you can get a percentage of games that at least matches your poll it will validate it.

But I bet you won't get half of your polled results.

62% of forum goers say they want TDM (with no suggestion of a better game mode).
But that isn't 62% of people in game. Or can you prove that it is?

It's actually not anywhere close to 62% of forum goers. 220 yes votes and 130 "I don't care votes" out of 3325 viewers. That means about 6% said "yes" 4% said "I don't care" and the other 90% said "Where the hell is the 'no' option? I'm not even going to bother to vote."

See that's your problem,

1) You give a Yes and a it'll happen whether I like it or not option, so I'm going to sit over here and not play TDM options and herald it as the all encompassing "no" answer which it isn't
2) You are using this very skewed poll to *prove* you're right, which is NOT the case... considering you have a VERY small selection of the population, there's a couple hundred people that live in my complex, should I poll them and use that as proof as to how we should run the ENTIRE state?

I think you should actually read the thread as all your points are discussed. Or you could look at the 9 other threads on the forums.

If you had said something like "I don't think the single light mech evading everyone is a good enough reason to have a base" people might have a reason to look at what you're saying but as it stands now it appears you just hit "reply" without reading a single word.
