The flame-thrower isn't that great. It's a novelty right now. Perhaps it will stay that way.

As long as it's a novelty, the Flamer should be built-into the Dragon mechs as an integrated weapon system with no ton or slot cost. They are called Dragons, after all.

The Archer is called the archer and it doesn't have a bow. I drove a mustang once, and not a horse.

We name our vehicles after fast and fearsome creatures.

A built in head flamer means a head energy hardpoint. I'm going to have to say no because of that. There's no need to over complicate existing variants for the sake of novelty. Anyways, the names of mechs are only somewhat related to their functions. Ravens don't have wings and Cicadas do not emit a deafening sound in groups, for example.

Can I get some jump jets, then? Dragons are supposed to be able to fly and breathe fire. They do not do either of these things. :P

I like the idea of two energy hardpoints in CT. Those nostrils currently spew SRMS, but...
Actually, I also like the JJ idea.... ;)

I'm actually incredibly surprised neither of the Hero Dragons had a CT energy hardpoint or two. That's where a flamer would actually make sense, given the paint scheme and shape of the mech.

What you have to understand is that Mechwarrior Online is based upon the board game, Battle Tech.

In that each of these 'Mechs have already been designed and have long fan-loved histories behind them.
You cannot just go "changing" these 'Mech designs because of the 'Mech's name.

As said before, 'Mechs are just named, anything, the Archer has lots of LRM's, it doesn't have a bow. The Spider can't climb walls, The Raven (ignoring the 4X) doesn't have Jump Jets despite being a bird. Etc.
They are just names.

If you'd like to learn more about the Dragon 'Mech, here's alot of it's History/Variants.
