As a newcomer to anything battletech, i am simply blown away by this game in terms of graphics, gameplay, and the passion brought by its playerbase. That being said I am somewhat confused as to why these giant death machine are even needed whie lacking any form of infantry resistance.
Imagine if you will
ASSAULT
Objectives
- Eliminate Enemy Mechs
- Support Attacking forces
Game start
Each team has a small army of AI controlled infantry, lights tanks, so on. Bases can only be captured by infantry and small vehicles. As the game progressed the forces would either go to a set location depending on the geography of the map, or perhaps they could be controlled through the implement implementation of commands with the still useless command console. As the two opposing armies would meet, battle would ensue, and while unaided by mechpilots the two forces should almost be an even force for eachother. Mechs could at any point fight opposing infantry allowing friendly forces to advance or dedicated escorts could scare away and destroy any who try to divert your forces.
Scouts would be needed to properly plan movement strategies to ensure delivery of caravan.
Pros
-Would create dynamic battlefield events
-would demand roles be taken and followed
-could be used in CW stats
and since those devestating Clan mechs will be coming to reek havok on ths IS mechs, these armies could be used to balance certain aspects. example 12 decked out Clan mechs vs 12 IS antiques could be made an even fight through infantry actions.
Food for thought people, without someting that opens up the universe, that brings this out of a FPS mindset is to add depth. Wanna hear your thoughts people. (Unless you think the game is perfectly fine and nothing needs to added or changed, in which case i'm sure there is another topic for you)
