They mentioned they might do a timeline jump which would have separate tech and queue. For now, I'd rather they just implement the current timeline until it's well-balanced and has no bugs.

lol splitting the playerbase even more. brilliant.

The setting is fluffy foo foo bunny nothingness that just forces content to come out at bad times and forces a schedule turnaround that isn't conductive to making a good game. I don't care about the games goofy yellow peril background timeline. The storyline has always been and will always be the worst thing about mechwarrior.

Adding stuff to battletech is what killed the game.

True story.

As much as I'd love to see new weapons and stuff the TT game up to and including "Technical Readout: 3050" is EXTRAORDINARILY WELL BALANCED FOR ANY TYPE OF GAME!

There just isn't much room in the system for additional types of weapons.

There is basically no story in this game whatsoever. I don't see why a timeline is even necessary. Would be a cool idea if there was story, or maybe community warfare or something...

This game fell victim to a now common problem where the community consumes content faster than a developer can develop it. A restrictive timeline, that serves no real purpose right now isn't helping.

its nice if you have the heat to spare but i agree

which at that point i'd rather have a clan ER medium because 5 heat, 1 ton, for the same range as a IS LL, and 7 damage is a much better tradeoff than the ML to the IS ERML

Progressing the timeline as they are allows them to wave the carrot on a stick and imply that in 6 months Ultra AC20 could show up.

Note on that weapon, Holy crap, that is all.

I'd rather they focus on one era at a time, and right now balancing the game should be higher priority with content here and there sprinkled in. That being said, I'd like this game to last for years, and by then I would expect to see content based on every era every year or every other year or so.

Realistically I wouldn't expect this game to last even 2 years.

Orbital Space, Thule, Rasalhague Province
Free Rasalhague Republic
7 March 3050

This is when Tyra Miraborg first encounters the clans aerofighters... that was 19 days ago...

PGI has fallen behind in the time line, pissed off all the battletech fans, im sure starting the timeline 16 months ago sounded like they had plenty of time but they have run out.

According to the 3050 Tech Readout the clans started there very 1st mass invasion on the 20th of March 3050... PGI missed it...

In 4 days Hohiro is going to be captured by the clans.

PGI failed to keep up with there timeline... Pulse laser SHOULDNT EVEN BE IN THE GAME !!! Only the draco's had them in 3040 - 3050.

Seems like they more just google'd Battletech and get most of there info from Sarna.net

and limiting what weapons/mech you can access via what faction you choose isn't all that great in a "competitive multiplayer game" to begin with.

and as you say, they exist in the universe in 3050, so why should they not be in the game?

I voted yes... I love the idea...

But maintaining the timeline in realtime? I don't know how I feel about that... If it's 3050 now... I have to wait 3 years for the Bushwhacker, and 9 years for the Argus?

I don't mean to downplay my enjoyment of this game or the BT/MW universe, and I don't want say I think PGI is incapable of maintaining this game for that long, but... I don't think I'll be playing this game in 9 years... Or even 3.

Release batches of new mechs every month or two months along with a timeline and perhaps some kind of story update (or even excerpts from other fiction) giving a condensed run-down of events occurring since the previous update and summarizing events between the release of each mech... Because damn, that is a long time.

well if you go by TT, we have effectively Angel ECM and that was in three years DCMS only experimental technology. So Draconis Combine only.

This brings up a good argument though, when CW comes in WTF will be the point of houses?
ARE they going to restrict tech based on who you fight for?
cause Im damn sure going Merc, I got a MC to build

Probably discounts on certain mechs/variants per house. Not that it matters because everyone will have already bought their mechs already! :)

Yeah I was more referring to anything after 3063. Most people recognize 3050 as the year the game gave in to powercreap, which is true, but the gear was still incredibly balanced.

After 3063 it was munch all the way down..

munch munch.

Yup, that just proves PGI should've not started the "timeline clock" till they were actually in full release". It rather ****** me off as Davion should just now be starting to work with the Sommerset Stikers. There were many, many bugs. Too much focus on balance.... (Don't know how to break it to you sheeple, but even currently weapons in RL are not balanced. I live in a country that has weapons that can level cities in one round... I don't think your .22 cal pistol has that damage rating!) It's pathetic that PGI couldn't be bothered to at least put news line blurbs in. Heck, if you read PGI's "lore", we've been fighting over the same CITIES for months now. I'm fairly sure that the places we were fighting in would've had a clear victory by now!!!!! Then again, that's why my household has only spent $30 on the game so far. I was actually hoping for an RP aspect, like in all the console and PC versions of the game. If I wanted COD, or Modern Warfare, I'd have picked up those titles.

That is the way I look at it.

The second they add protomechs/celestials/mrms/compression lasers I am out.

In fact, long ago I had already written my character's back story to include the year he retires from active service as 3063, and exact date of his death as December 28th, 3070, in orbit above Arc-Royal.

That is the absolute last day I play battletech.

ummm, double heat sinks were a "must have" in TT (and that's why we don't have all DHS are 2.0 DHS, all because the devs didn't want them "mandatory"), the Gauss Rifle was another "must have" weapon (how many nerfs it's gotten in MWO is enough to prove it)

if anything, DHS is probably the cause of the power creap in TT
