lol, as you look me in the core i point the twin 20's down the window and end your life!

Seriously though the only two mechs that scare me in my jager are the stalker and atlas. But even the atlas goes down super fast.

I've been playing Jagermech constantly over the last few days, with an XL engine and half-decent armor.

To me, having my side torsos be vulnerable has never been a problem. I don't try to swing back and forth to dodge blows, or anything like that, so people always have a clear shot to my center torso. As a result, I'm only ever cored, never... sided? Whatever the word is.

But the thing is... in my Jagermech? Twin gauss rifles? High on the 'Mech chassis? Nobody ever gets the chance to kill me. 3-5 kills per match (if I include kills I nearly make that someone else 'steals', not that I care).

I guess the short of it is... who cares if my sides are vulnerable when you're not alive to threaten me?

Personally, I find an STD260 engine with dual AC10 to be my cup of tea. Good survivability, good range and good damage.

The hilarious thing is that XL engines are practically the only thing to run in Cataphracts and Jagermechs. Live fast, die young, leave a beautiful robot at the top of the scoreboard.

So you'll fear my lovely 3f... 86 ct full armor. Need at least 3 shots to core it without torso twisting and with cool shot (just for the argument i dont use it...cost too much) i can deliver 120 pinpoint damage in less than 10sec in any location ;-)

Tough now i just aim at the legs ;-) work every times

My sole XL Jager, the DD has damn near max armor and it lasts a long time. I run standard engines in my A and S so it is not the case that every Jagermech has an XL. If a Jagermech is exploding it is because it has an AC-40 and is being focus fired on.

I always shoot off their side torsos, too and am amazed when one survives ^^

I am way more amazed though if i shoot off the side torso of a light and he lives. that seems just wrong to me :/

I have mastered all 3 Jagermechs. First I used to play with XL engines - loved the speed, but always felt to die faster than in any other mech I´ve ever played.

Without much hope I switched to standard engine..

It´s a difference like day and night - survivabilty goes drastically upwards.

Would never ever put an XL engine in a Jagermech again.

I'll second this one, I've had several matches scoring 3+ kills and a few 8 assist matches and I'm only an (probably below) average pilot. The XL jager is a fearsome support mech hosting massive firepower for it's size but it's not built for an open brawl, use it right score top... In Jagers we trust

I went 20 wins in a row in my XL295 JM6-A while leveling it from basic to elite. I have a 5+ W/L ratio as well as K/D, and I solo pug only. The XL engine helps for aiming (torso movement speed), survivability (torso twisting/turning plus some movement to spread damage), higher damage due to more ammo/weapons, and for being in the right place at the right time, which is priceless.

Now that I am working to master it, though, the 2X bonus on the basic skills are causing me to rethink my XL engine because aiming is a little speedier than it really needs to be. More often than not, though, I die to being cored, so I am not sure how useful it would be. Besides, a slow JM6-A is really just a low profile DDC with less armor and no ECM.

I'm a fan of the XL Jagermech.

...surprisingly, not shooting it, but driving one.

With the new PPC changes, the debate to XL or not has become much more difficult. People are actually able to get all ppc shots on the same location while you are moving, so you're much more likely to lose a torso section quickly than before. Plus, there are more stand-off fights.
