my suggestion is this.
Take an AC (lets start with the AC2) Give it a higher ROF say 10 doing .2 dam per shot. increase the ammo count so that it gets the same shots per tom(Xten. or just count each shot as ten submunitions)
I also don't have a problem with weapons shooting beyond their "Long" range. it's realistic...but accuracy should be highly reduced. beyond "Long" range the shot should start to spread like a missile salvo just as the LB10X does.
this brings the AC2 into balance keeps it's role and actually isn't reall far from the TT pattern.
it would be even more in line to give it a five shot "Burst" (Doing >4 dam per shot) firing at a rof of 10-16 RPS and a cooldown of whatever is left of the second either gives the weapon a DPS of 2.
it would look something like this
AC2 rof 16 five shot burst (.3125 seconds) cooldown .6875 seconds 1 heat. 450 shots peer ton long range 720M extreme range 2160M
(In this format the ac2 doesn't need the ammo buff.
AC5 rof 12 (5round burst) 1DAM per shot (.4166 sec) cooldown .5833 DPS 5
this is in line with the game and the fast combat and would encourage more balanced mech builds and bring them in line with the way lasers have been nerfed. My personal opinion is the the recycle times should be even longer around 2,5 seconds. that would bring them into line with the heat system and put them back into balance with energy weapons.
By the way this actually increases the damage of all ballistics except the ac2 and the MG and bring the way the damage is done into lime with the nerfing done to lasers.

thno mater what the balanceing done the AC2s DPS should be one tenth that of the AC20 not eight tenths. (The DPS of the current AC2 built is 4 the ac 20 is 5)
