Does it do anything better in particular?

I remember when they were the kings of light mechs before ECM, but now that ECM is here, what is the Jenners advantages over other lights?

None. Why did you think it had any?

The JR7-F has more energy hardpoints than any Raven, and the 7-D can hold 2 SRM4 (if you do this with the 3L, the ones in the left arm will come out 1 at a time and make it harder to use). All variants get JJs.

That's about it for now.

They have no variants that are universally detested.

Both the JR7-F and the JR7-D can hold more firepower than the Raven can, but you have to be skilled in order to use them both due to the direct fire nature of the weapons and the speed you will be going. The benefit to piloting the D has sorta lowered thanks to the SRM nerf but in return the F got a buff vs the Raven (SSRM nerf). That said, piloting a Jenner is fun 24/7 which is not something a Raven will give you.

JJs and 6MLs means a Jenner owns Ravens nowadays....when you can get 30 pinpoint damage vs 21 damage that has some randomness....it's an easy win.

If both pilots are equally skilled: Jenner wins, due to superior firepower.

Ever since SSRMs got nerfed I've started using my Jenner again - A LOT. And the reason for this is that I like the hard point setup better than any Raven's, plus the energy hard points are all mounted in the arms so I can shoot at people from more extreme elevations and angles.

Raven 3L was Jenner wanna-be prior to ECM. When ECM is "properly rebalanced", the Jenner will come back to some semblance of prominence. Ravens have the better hard point location distribution, and odd-shaped hitboxes....

Hardpoints, engine rating, jumpjets. They really were the only light mech in existence until ECM was introduced.

Interestingly, noone mentioned the RVN but the 3L only go up to 113.4 kph (124.7 kph w/ speed tweak). And the 3L, being the only one to match about the top speed of JRs, cannot mount JJ.
RVN-2X has 4E 1M, 4X has 2B 1M 2E, 3L has 2M 3E
JR7-F has 6E, D has 4E 2M, K has 4E 1M

JRs have more hardpoints (and better since no ballistic), JJ and higher top speed. They're smaller but a huge CT.

Someone forgot about the Jenner K.

All in all, the Jenner is a significantly better combat chassis than the Raven 3L, and the Ravens were a joke until ECM was introduced. ECM/Streak synergy is the only thing keeping the Ravens on top right now.

Jenners are better than the Raven in everyway except on which mech can equip ECM, which doesn't matter if you're a jenner worth your salt.

Jump Jets are a serious advantage for being able to choose your fights (either engaging or disengaging). That and JJ's are fun as hell.

Also, you don't feel slimy when you play a Jenner like you do playing a cheese Raven.

To me, the raven feels really stiff. I like the maneuverability the Jenner offers a little better; also, jump jets and nicer hard point layout. I think it comes down to preference though, the ECM is pretty favorable for the raven.

Jenner is primarily a striker that can scout in a pinch.

Raven is a nice scout/spotter (3L) or striker (2,4X)

It will be detested once airstrikes+arties are added. 3 module slots by default will give it more future life.
