I been watching my stats, and out of all my mechs my Awesome 9M is my only sucky stat mech. It has a horrible 1 win to 2 losses record over 90+ games. Its not that I have a bad build or I'm a bad pilot (although a new zoom, could really help this build). It just seems, still, that the Awesome is still a secondary mech.
They are by far the easiest mech to core, for their weight.
Their primary weapons; PPCs and ERPPCs spread their damage across different mech sections. Making it harder to bring down opponents.

In light of this what do role do you use your Awesome for?
Is there hope for the Awesome with the coming maps?
Will the hit boxes be reworked?
Will PPCs not spread their damage?

I have had success with my 8T (loadout similar to stock)

As a noob, I'm not very afraid of Awesomes. Huge hit box, not that maneuverable, and I feel like a lot of them are (relatively) easy targets on hot maps, maybe because they have so many hardpoints that people use all the space on weapons and make them huge alpha-strike mechs without enough heat sinks?

I am sure I will get an AWS sooner or later, but I am much more concerned about enemy Stalkers and Catapults than Awesomes. Just my $0.02 but it seems like they are easier to defeat than they should be.

I think the only issue the Awesome really has is its width. It is really easy to hit, and it is really easy to put all your damage on 1 section of the mech. It would be nice if they made it skinnier, or added armor to the torso.

I do like the way the mech looks, so added torso armor would be nice. I doubt anything like that will happen so I would recommend staying at range and targeting the enemy snipers first. You don't last long in a brawl but you can use the arms as shields in a sniper war.

I use my 9M as a fast striker, and it works pretty well in the role.

Sometimes the trick to finding a good use for the chassis is to find out what it can do differently than others. The Awesome has a wide center torso, making XLs more acceptable, and the 9M can go fast. Hence, don't use it like an Atlas.

I run an awesome 8Q and I've tinkered with the build for a while but now I've got one that is mean and has been doing great for me. 3 lrg pulse 3 med lasers and as big of a standard engine that will fit. my k/d in it is nearly 2 in around 30 some odd matches. Don't overheat too much unless I'm pushing for a kill and don't have a lot of surrounding enemies and that is on tourmaline. I think Awesomes really are underrated. It may be a big target but if you're smart about your piloting it can be devastating.

Your right on the money, they aren't feared. Why? cause they suck. K2s are harder to take down. and for 5tons more a Stalker is way more difficuld (striaght on that is).

Currently I have a Aws 8T, great LRM mech and close fire support.
My 9m, the reason for this post
I want to buy a Pretty Baby, but what good is it, if it can run and die quicker than any other 65+ ton mech?

AWS 8R

2 SRM4 2 SRM6 2 ERPPC XL 300

also

2 LRM 15 2 LRM 20 2 ML and TAG with an XL200.

Lots of kills, metric butt-tons of damage.

3 large pulse, 3 SSRM2 w/ 2 tons ammo, AMS with 1 ton ammo. I enjoy it. A good 9x9 coolant flush is good for the sticky situations. Doesn't go toe-to-toe with an atlas but can handle most anything else.

The problem with the Awesome is that it's 80 tons, and is outgunned by the other mechs in it's class. Same with the Dragon, Cicada, and Commando. If drop-weights were taken into account, then the Awesome would shine. When I drop into matches where there are no Atlas' or Stalkers, my 9M is a friggin monster!

Thanks for the builds, but I happy with mine, it runs great.

I think that I'm discovering that in current MWO; 2 LRM15s w/Artimis offer my team better support than x3 ERPPCs

If you want to be an Awesome 9M pilot, pick up a Cataphract 3D or 1X. That is a tip from your Uncle Zolaz.

...U mean to say that one of the best Awesomes actually is the worst? Play mid to long range in your 9M and you might change yr mind. The 9M is currently my best killing machine. If you look closely at Awesomes in general you will see that they have large shoulders but get cored very easily. This means that you should choose instant-fire weapons and immediately torso twist straight after shooting. That, my padawan is the Way of the Awesome

1 ER-PPC
1 LRM10
2 SRM4
3 ML
DHS, AMS, 300 STD Engine and full armor except for legs

Working fine on all distances providing fire support and having enough punch to kill things at short range while being quite fast and running cool.

I love awesomes, I like their look, their cockpit, but they're just....Bad. I want them to be good, but everything they can do a stalker does better, except going fast.

Vassago calls them Unawesomes, and that term is very fitting.

...I'm sorry, did you just blatantly state that precision weapons are doing damage spread throughout the enemy mech?
