I must be the only person that does not want the ability to change paint jobs on Hero mechs. I know it is coming, but it is not a good thing, IMO.

Why? It can't be because they "need to be identifiable" because none of them are superior to non-Hero builds in such a way as to make this necessary. Even if that were not the case, most of them have identifiable silhouettes and you can see the variant in the target window or floating over their heads. As far as we currently know, it may only even be colors, with the patterns retained. I fail to see how allowing people to individualize the appearance of their mechs the same way everyone else can is a detriment to anyone.

Personally, I'm also leery of buying it before seeing the standard variants, but I'm not sure if I'll be able to help myself.

I want it, I really do, but I am still deciding on if I will buy it right away or wait for a sale.

I will buy (with c-bills) and master (OK elite) the other variants.

If it goes on sale, I would buy it then.

If it goes on sale and I haven't bought and mastered (OK elited) three yet, I will wait the year for it to go on sale again.

I have my three Awesomes done, still waiting for Pretty Baby to go on sale...

I'm buying it..and keeping it bright pink, since the color alone seems to bother so many people. :D

Most mechs lose alot of stuff if you pop a torso, lol
It's really bad on the Heavy Metal. All you'll have is the Right Arm ballistic. The regular Highlanders will at least have 2 RT Medium Lasers to work with long with that Ballistic.

You need a maybe option. Cause It will depend on what the load out is. I like Rhonda as a character and all. She was a fun character, but one... I only wore pink once 25 years ago because I love my wife and a wedding is the bride's big day and deserves to be perfect for her. And if the Speakers are only cosmetic they lose some of their cool! :D

I'm not the one you asked the question to, but I also don't think repainting Hero 'Mechs is that good of a feature. In theory, Hero 'Mechs (well, except for the ones that don't exist in Lore, because PGI made them up - I'm looking at you X-5) are "Famous" 'Mechs. Part of that fame comes from the pilot, and part from the 'Mech being recognizable on the field as the 'Mech that they are.

Nope not buying it. Terrible hardpoint locations. Terrible paintjob. Terrible price.

I'll wait to see what the people think who bought it,just because it's a hero mech doesn't mean it's actually good.I'll be buying the 3 Variants of the highlander though.

Load out's all but pinned down. Willing to put money on it.

2 Ballistic ( 2 Right Arm)
4 Energy ( 1 Left Torso, 3 Left Arm)
2 Missile ( 2 Left Torso)

No. Prices on all hero mechs have been absurdly high.

If I can repaint it by the time it comes out, sure.

Not that I have anything wrong with guys who wear hot pink, it's just not for me.

Simply don't like it. The Camo pattern is ugly and probably the worst of all the Hero patterns so far (I'm not talking about the color, just the patttern)

I may or may not buy a Highlander when it's available, though I'm looking forward more to the three after it (Flea, Balckjack, Orion) especially the Orion which I'll get 3 of.

Honestly the only reason I wouldn't buy this mech is if it didn't come with jump jets.

Seriously that is about the only thing that would keep me from getting it.

Like the idea of a hero highlander, just don't know if its setup will be worth buying, if current theories about its hardpoint layout are correct I think it would be a waste of MC to buy, still hopeful for a decent hero assault though.

Depends on the:
Hardpoint loadout
Ability to change hero mechs colors
Price point
The feel of a standard Highlander

Also if Orions are the next mech I might just wait for a hero version of those.

Yeah that sounds about right. I think it will only have 1 Ballistic in the Right Arm though.

It seems to have 5, which will most likely weight 2 tons each.

Since we don't know the details of the mech just yet its rather hard to say. I can say that like almost all hero mechs, at first glance it looks pretty unlikely that I'll buy it at all. It appears to have 1 arm mounted ballstic hardpoint, 3 arm mounted energy hardpoints, and 2 side torso mounted missile hardpoints. So, like the Atlas, pretty much an eclectic mess, only without the Atlas's greater tonnage and thicker armor to compensate, and almost as slow...most likely I'll be passing.

If Carrioncrows is right about the extra ballistic and extra energy slot...eh, still not sure what capability this mech is going to give me that I don't already have with something else, but it's worth looking at.
