Has anyone else noticed that the Dragon mechs sustain damage to legs when falling / walking over ledges that will not harm other mechs? I thought it was my imagination, but after hundreds of games, I'm sure it isn't.

In addition to that, the Dragons still take collision damage to their legs (sometimes) when running into other mechs, including friendlies.

Could it be a UI problem, and the mech is not really being damaged?

It's not like my Dragons' legs are getting blown off .. ever .. so I never was concerned about it much. But when reading a recent thread about collisions, I decided I would be more observant of leg dmg today.

I havent notcied it to be specefic to Dragons.

More related to speed I think.

As has been stated, doesn't just apply to dragons.

Any mech that goes fast enough, and collides with an object be it a mech or a boulder, takes leg damage.

The only current bug for leg damage is dropping into game on the new map. A lot of players start off with yellow legs and 99% health for some reason.

Collision with other mechs will do sometimes damage. You encounter this mostly on matchstart.
Going over 90kph with a light/cicada gives legdamage on abstacles, while going under 90kph will be fine.
Maybe its the same for all mechs, but the dragon is the only one going that fast?

I thought they fixed that leg damage on a pebble at a certain speed a few patches ago.

I experience this all the time in my lights/high speed mediums.

My Dragons are not very fast. Maybe 90, but I can take leg damage when stationary and getting bumped by a heavy/assault that definitely isn't going fast. I imagine this is not supposed to be happening.

The falling damage is what I really don't understand. I can go over ledges on my Atlases and take no damage, but the Dragons will get yellow legs doing the same thing. Why? Not talking about big falls here; really short ones.

There are still some things which are solely tonnage related. Sadly, falling damages applies in reverse to the way Tabletop does it, where the bigger you are, the more damage you take (as it should be).

They did fix the bug where the legs of lights would slowly degrade during the game with just normal movement.

Dragons are a fast heavy, and thus just fast enough to see what pilots of faster lighter mechs just tend to take for granted.

Why would forward-speed affect the distance you can fall without taking damage?

I do not believe it does. I have really tried to go over some hills in my Dragons w/o taking damage, slowly, and get hurt every time. I think something is malfunctioning. Take one to the testing ground, you'll see.

It has to do with the way they calculate damage.

Remember, you do retain forward momentum (gradually slowing) when you run off a cliff.

I know, but I can step over a ledge at 10KPH and still get hurt by a fall that will not injure my Atlas going 60KPH. That doesn't make sense! If the forward movement was a factor, and the weight of the mech was a factor, then the ATLAS would get hurt, not the Dragon?!
