Can Not Decide...

I am looking to purchase myself a Jaeger or the Treb, but I can not decide which mech line to go with.
I would like to build one of them up as a fairly maneuverable and quick interdiction mech and be able to move wuickly with enough firepower to possibly stop break through actions.
I am thinking of a medium to fairly long range capable mech that can still deal decent damage when it comes to close range.
Thoughts and opinions on these two mech lines and even builds would be appreciated.

YES, they have jump jets. I would rather go with Centurions for big engines. The Centi with three missile hardpoints is less than half the cost of the Trebuchet.
The Jagermech is a heavy, which means less than it used it since ELO doesn't force-match weight class. If that comes back, the choice is SLIGHTLY harder, since a Trebuchet is a medium and might net the enemy team a Cicada, or at the worst another 50 tonner. Nonetheless, the Jagermechs have better hardpoints than Trebuchets, the Jagers still jump, and they're pretty flexible on engine size. Heavies are also more durable in the long run. There is very little to gain with everyone on your team running mediums instead of heavies.
In short, I would go with the Jagers. I'm not buying any of them because I already have a medium (Hunch) and a heavy (Catapult), and I'm now working on Atlas.

The stand out for jagers are dual AC20's with an XL engine. Most everything else cataphracts can do better, although the jager with missile hardpoints is probably the most flexible for diverse loadouts.

Just wanted to point out that a dual-Gauss Jager has an advantage with sniping over a Cataphract 4X with dual-Gauss, because the guns are mounted much higher up. A Cataphract with its sniping weapon in its arm needs to crest a ridge with almost all of its body because of its low-slung arms, while a Jager only has to expose the top bit of its body. Similarly true with other longer ranged ballistics. Also a Cataphract cannot run quad UAC/5. Granted, an Ilya can run three, with probably better armor, but that's neither here nor there.
Just something to think about.

Jag, 280XL, 2xAC20, 2ML, 6 tons ammo, endo. Stick and move, shoot the same spot twice and kill people.

And the cataphract 3D can take JJs and 4mlas. The JJs make the low hung arms a non issue, and the 4 mlas make this mech even deadlier up close.
Or you can trade those major advantages for arms at your eyes.
Cata every time IMO
Jager can quad UAC5 but that is more of a goof around build, seriously lacking in ammo, armor, speed, or a mix of the 3.

If you want fire support and the apility to do pinpoint dmg take the Jaeg, I might be opposite of most people though because I like the 4 ac5 build but love 2 ac 10s alot which seem to not be noticed much for this mech. But top speed in the 80 kps its not too fast.
