aye, it would sound more badass, but each autocannons need to sound different from the other... so I don't know if variations of this sound would be easy to do.

Also, the gauss needs a beefier sound.

Why? It doesn't use gunpowder, it's just a bunch of magnets.

Make each AC sound like a different cannon.
AC2 bushmaster
AC5 Bofors
AC10 75mm or 105
AC20 120mm or w/e

Still waiting for a laser recharge effect that doesn't sound like the playschool rocket.

I wish the ACs sounded a little more like the GAU-8 honestly.

You can hear it at 1:18. Hopefully the RACs end up sounding like that at least.

I love this topic so much.

The more badass the sound, the more i'll use it, regardless of stats.

then it should sounds like this:

The round is still supersonic
or like this:

Note the fire blast from a round without gunpowder. Thats superheated air

That is a railgun. The Gauss rifle is a coilgun, which is not the same thing.

This, but they don't seem interested in hiring sound guys to fix this ****...

And after all the grief I've had to put up with in my founders hunchback, a hunch-mounted AC/20 should be like this:

This is what the machine guns SHOULD be.

Both use electromagnets, just in a different shape. The velocity and stuff is probably a lot similar.

The gauss rifle does need a better sound. At the moment there is no real satisfaction when firing it.

I do find the boom of autocannons fun though :P

Really what the sound seems to be missing is that doppler echo of the sound. You can hear it well in the first clip posted. It just makes the gun sound so much more meaty.

i love this entire discussion, and the videos.

and i feel gauss rifle should sound beefier, just cuz, it sounds a bit of a high pitched "pfft"

Do we have coilguns in real life?

Not ones that are as advanced as the railguns shown above

Sound of a AutoCannon should be like a Thunder in Tanki, right?
Then the Guass should be like the Rail Gun, or more meaty?

I think a charge up sound when you fire the gauss would be sweet, considering how it would be releasing truly insane amounts of electricity to launch the round. A bright electric muzzle flash, electronic sort of sound then a really deep and loud sonic boom would be awesome. Least that is how i would view a gauss rifle sound when fired

I think what we are hearing is the impact. The actual shot is that humming sound. There would be the crack of the super sonic shot but I don't think it would have the same volume as an explosion based super sonic shot.

Nm, I had my volume down. The second video is exactly how it should sound imo since that is exactly how it does sound.

I don't think magnets on the side or magnets all around would make that much of a difference in the sound.
And I say second video because it has the nice inside sound. Outside the mech you'd probably only hear the explosion part.
