Also it's Easter tomorrow.
Some people (not myself) have early church services as I understand it.

8 man Q breaks alot, it's kinda sad. Or you just play the same team 2-3 times in a row.

Ya but when "some" people dont play it shouldn't be so devastating to the game that people can not play 8 mans right? I'm not wrong here, it is ridiculousness to have less that 50 people playing 8 mans at any point in time??

3/30/2013 @ 9:30 PST.

We play a match than get 4 - 5 failed to finds. This looks grim for PGI. If you are forced to play with pugs just to play the game they are going to lose people.

A false choice is no choice at all.

Uh... it's double XP weekend. A time when people want to get mechs they haven't really felt out of the way... 8 mans are time consuming... plus its a holy holiday with people visiting family and such.

I've told my group to go out and just get games in. Perform in high quality but get the games in. Pugging or up to 4s... they're just faster and more expedient on a moment like this.

You did take those factors into account before writing this gloom and doom post, yeah?

YES, as i have said NOTHING in a successful game should = less than 50 players playing 8 mans. You did read that right?

Besides it isnt like this is an "only on easter weekend" issue either. Eight man Qs are slow AND around 1 am PST they become much harder to get.

Strange, those of us with very high ELO scores have the same experience, only in pug drops.

3 DD-Cs ... 2 Raven ... our side 1 Stalker and medium's 1B commando's etc.

Seems legit :P I don't mind the challenge, I mind not being able to play.

U don't think 1B coms are = to raven 3L ?

I've (and JW) has had an open scrim invitation with QQ for weeks now. Maybe you should take to your leaders and ask them why they are not setting up scrims with competition teams when they have the opportunity. That is not my concern. Just stating that the invite has been there since early January.

That being said when we 8 man scrim it is only serious if we want it to be. Many clans/corps will agree that most of our scrims are for practice and all in good fun. Just because we have a game face doesn't mean we always wear it. It is a game after all.

Being one of the "leaders" now...(thanks btw, I got a promotion :P ) I can answer that. You know very well anything we do vs. each other is going to involve a lot of smack talking and bragging rights. I like that...you know me, I'm anything but quiet and well-mannered once I get going  The point is, I doubt we (both units) are capable of purely 'fun runs'...we're always going to smack talk each other...it's our nature.

The challenge was issued almost immediately after a certain disruption in our usual 8-man group. You had the benifit of next to no change, we did not. We have adapted quite well, but honestly, we needed the time. There were hard feelings, and all that needed time to settle down. We're definately back at strength, and have scrimaged against other 'comp' groups...just not yours. I'll discuss it though, and perhaps soon.

You know our usual nights, but I'll refresh your memory...mondays and wednesdays approx. 8-9 PM CST to whenever failed to find a match becomes to obnoxious. Of course against you, personally I'd like to be somewhat fresh. Any other nights are just random 8-mans thrown together if we have the willing numbers.

And finally, I owe ya all some alphas, so I at least hope it happens soon. What is it, 5 weeks til next RHOD season? We'll face ya there anyhow, so might as well test you and ourselves before then.

The problem is that playing competitive vs competitive isn't as fun as playing competitive vs casual. Honestly?

How's this for a concept - have it possible to drop in a premade-only queue where both sides are made of premades. Give them higher payouts for XP and cbills.

Then reduce the payout for a premade team dropping in the regular queue.

Would that be enough? Not even dedicated 8-mans only, just a queue for premade vs premade, 4x2 + 4x2 for example or 3+3+2, etc. How viable would that be? I'd drop in it with my friends when we drop as a group. Would be more fun. Everyone involved is at least generally interested in teamwork.

I think you are making it a little too personal. My issue is with not being able to get 8 man drops. Even you in your post stated that eventually 8 mans dry up. That is the issue. It's a clear sign that the game is running aground when you can not get an 8 man drop. This post has nothing to do with QQ or JW. I didn't even tag up my Sig to post it.

However rest assured that if there are any hard feelings or inability to scrim or practice for fun it is completely on the qq side of the fence. We all may talk **** but that is just a part of the game. Its friendly rivalry and mutual admiration at worst. It's only acceptable to smack talk your friends because they are your friends. JW tries very hard not to put down the new players or simply people we do not know. Think of it like having a size limit on the fish you can catch. You only smack talk the fish that can take it. Let the others have a chance to grow.

On a more personal note: Perhaps if QQ ended it's "kick old members from channel" policy than the wounds you have could start to heal.

The problem isn't the population, it's the motivation to get a 7 other people to play what will most likely be extremely tough fight after fight. Most of the people who are putting together 8 man teams now are at least trying to bring their A game.

People stick to 4s because they get the same rewards and it's less effort. It also doesn't have the stigma that 8-man premade has for being all-tryhard all the time. (An exaggeration, but that is the perception for many people)

I think if they want to entice more people to play as full teams, they need to create incentives. Increased C-bill rewards would help in the short-term.

Either way, there is a bigger issue which is the future of competitive play in MWO. 8-man premades is a temporary thing, which is why I think they just threw it in the game without much support. When 12v12 arrives do you think they are going to require premades to field 12 in-house members? Not a lot of groups has that kind of manpower let alone enough groups to make quick search times.

I think 4-man teams are going to be what the game focuses on.

For any game to be so slow that we are having trouble finding a few groups of 8 IS something to worry about. It is basically a death toll for the game IMO. Since you can get on to games that are 10 years old and find groups.

Plain and simple: There is no excuse for less than a dozen 8 mans to be playing at any point in time.

Oh, nevermind. I should've continued reading your posts. Even though people are giving you salient reasons for your single person situation you are riding an agenda... You want to tell us the game is failing so nothing that may be an outside possibility to that matters and becomes invalid.

Everything else is moot but the fact that you didn't get an 8 man drop going.

Somewhere, I can not find it now. I posted the idea of an extra payout if you drop underweight. I think my idea was 1% per 10 tons difference. I like the idea but I am not sure it would help the situation. If it would I would be all for it !

You're taking what I'm saying all wrong. I was just shootin the @#$% while you worked on finding a match. There are no more wounds as far as I know. Again, smack talking is specifically WHY I like you guys..lol. I'm just splainin' why we have not accepted your challenge to date. Don't go gettin your undies in a bunch, I certainly am not. In fact, just the opposite...I was attempting a dialouge so we can make this happen...not an excuse to not do it.

As far as the OP...yeah, it dried up a tad early, but pretty much the same thing any other night. By this time, it's usually find that one team and synch..leaving the third team to die...or be the one to die yourself. Nothing new...population has always been a problem in the 8-man Qs.

Hey man, you seem to have an agenda of your own. It isnt a doom and gloom thread. It's more of a "what is wrong with this picture" thread. Clearly others have the same issue as I do. So maybe look in a mirror and find something constructive to say or maybe nothing at all.

I might agree but no competitive drops can happen if you must drop with 4 puggers. They should just rename it WOW.

It isnt just easter it is a pretty regular problem. But even on easter there should be a few 8 mans dropping right? Instead what is happening is that 3 8 mans are dropping and we keep taking turns essentially.
