i was just in a match with a catapult. a jenner tapped his leg with collision damage, the catapult got all pissy. he then went over a cliff and get shot. i was running behind him to assist him, he backed up into me, when he got stuck he turned and double gaussed me twice and called me a stupid *****. so i shot back and took off 1 of his gauss. a few minutes later he started shooting me in the back. so i killed him. im not sure who is in fault here. i shouldnt have been right behind him. but he shouldnt have gaussed me.

I can kind of understand him.

I hate it with a passion when someone blocks me from behind and i eat all the damage.

The moment you see somebody about to back up into you, you should be cognizant enough to also throw it in reverse and steer off to the side if you're not fast enough to keep pace with him.

Take this as constructive criticism for future games - not trying to be a d!ck here.

Collisions should fix this kind of behaviour.

Without them, people bump into each other and block themselves like this...

Both of you appear to be at fault. Following too closely and blocking withdraw is always a sore point, especially to those mechs who are prone to head shots like a K2. However, his response by firing not one, but two twin gauss round volleys into you was an over the top response. Unfortunately, MWO like all other internet games, tends to contain its fair share of people who fail both in proper tactics and social skills. By failing to kill or neuter you after two twin gauss volleys, the other player appears to fall into this category.

The best is when you get a great flanking idea, 2 others follow you, you peek around the rocks, and run smack dab into the ECM Atlas. So while you're trying to back around the rock ASAP while getting pummeled by the Atlas, your teammates are in a straight line directly behind you blocking your retreat while shooting you in the back.

Nobody should have shot anybody... especially teammates :-) There is an Official Thread for TeamKilling, griefing, and other stuff for anyone'd who'd like to know the Staff's stance (you can report TKers to support@mwomercs.com). Firing upon your team and them insulting them is frowned upon. :D See, there's the frown. Retaliatory TK is also frowned upon...
Spoiler
Thanks for understanding.

If a few people box you in on purpose, then that's Griefing and frowned upon, too. but, in this case, not everybody is aware of what your teammates are doing with their throttle, especially when you're looking down-field and not at your buddy's legs. Just try to keep yourself a minimum distance from your peers when following, and if you find yourself backing up against a teammate who isn't getting out of the way then you're gonna just have to think of an alternate solution instead of shooting them. Shooting your Team will not help you achieve victory... and TKing a TKer just reduces the credibility of your report if you choose to report them to support@mwomercs.com for their Foul Grifery.

The collision, technically your fault, though it's unavoidable sometimes. The friendly fire, his fault. You were engaging (and killed) an enemy, nothing wrong with that.

He sure overreacted, but what you did was also behavior completely deserving for your topic title. I'll admit that I also sometimes got so pissed by a teammate blocking me for several seconds and trying to walk through me, or putting shot after shot into my back, that I took my lightest weapon (if I had one - would not use heavy hitters for this) and put a shot next to his cockpit. That is faster and more practical then typing stuff in the midst of battle while it also delivers the message.

Foul Griefery?

You make it sound like they have black top hats and twirly mustaches... and perhaps a sinister plan!

You are at fault, as you should never, ever position your mech directly behind your team mate precisely for this reason - it prevents them from moving back behind cover and prevents you from having a clear LOS to target, so you can't assist that team mate anyway.

Seems like everyone was wrong on some level. It's good to use the buddy system, which the K2 lacked the social skills for, but you have to give your buddy some space. When the K2 pops out from cover and presents his silhouette he is entering into the fatal funnel. Attackers want to move through the funnel as quickly as possible, while defenders want to keep them stuck in the funnel. When you are too close to your buddy it is you who are keeping him in the line of fire. He is already taking the risk of being the point man, give you buddy the space to do his job.

While TKing rarely helps, I have seen where somebody just went rabid and TK'd multiple mechs at the beginning of a match and had to be put down or they would have continued. Fragging didn't get it's name from games.
