I do not know if its because a lot of the established players are taking a break and waiting to see how PGI progresses, however, I feel that overall people in game are much more crude, and not very good sports.

In multiple games, where it has been a good brawl and fight, even if it was a stomp, the comments you see in the chat bar is always full of anger, accusations and poor sportsmanship.
Ill admit I'm guilty once in a while, but its a rare day when I post degrading or unsportsmanlike comments in the Chat bar.

Whats happened to civility, its just a game shesh.

You must remember- no one gets outplayed anymore. Every loss is due to 'cheese', incompetent teammates, or the matchmaker.

I stripped and legged a teammate of mine couse he answered "F**k you" to someone who said "gl hf", felt good

Might of been me he said that too. That sticks out quite well in my memory, of course could always be another grouchy troll. ;)

PGI is doing their best to alienate the "old guard" BT fans and cater to CoD Crowd ™, what you are seeing is the effect of former group rapidly shrinking and latter group getting larger.

Silly comment 101... I guess you're one of the CoD crowd you're badmouthing. ;)

i mostly see the worst in MWO when people foget that there are two options in winning assault, and we or lose by base capture. to those folks i can only say calm the F!@# down, if you/we lost due to base cap you/we should have had better base defence.

you/we know the conditions for winning so get a grip change how you play, and learn there is more to this game than the team death match mentality, Because when community warfare comes in you will not be ready for it.

Even though I get frustrated with my teams a lot (actually made a thread about it and the elo system), I don't actually rage at them in game. I might make a mild comment or two in a particularly bad game but prolonged bitching never helped anyone.

Generally, if I feel the urge to say something sarky, I know it's time to log out for the day.

Did have someone flip out once about my advising the last surviving team member to go cap instead of fight the assaults (and very nearly succeeding), because it was "pointlessly extending the game".

I don't watch chat much these days, I really don't even notice these comments. It's rare that I ever say something in chat, I guess I just don't care enough to use the in game chat most of the time since I'm always in a pre-made group and talking with the group on TS.

Said it before. Going to say it again. This game needs a block feature, Just for text. Plenty of other games have them. Sure you miss out on anything actually game related these people might say ("Atlas at Sigma") but you also miss out on their scintillating wit. I'd call that a good exchange.

Personally i instituted a rule with my group that if we are playing together we do not comment on a roll we were on the winning side of unless that other side initiates. because people will always jump to conclusions it's just easier to not say anything.

No I will say "no it wasn't when" a team decides they are going to to"gg,close" after a roflstomp. And I will talk some **** to someone who is being unambiguously dickish. Short of that i prefer to just stick to my TS or not type anything because I think the OP is seeing what I'm seeing.

Have none of you ever been to a football game? or a baseball game? Or well, some sort of sport with parents involved in the stands or sidelines that involve their youngsters playing a sport in which (most likely) they had such high hopes for their bright shining star of an offspring in which they were supposed to be that child prodigy and uplifting example of human dignity to bring about a proud, highspirited.... GOD DAMMIT JIMMY WHAT ARE YOU DOING PICK UP THE ******* BALL!! COACH ARE YOU SERIOUS? YOU ARE PUTTING HIM IN? AGAIN? WHAT IS THE ******* REFEREE BLIND?? THAT WAS NO WHERE NEAR WHERE HE SAID IT WAS. WHAT THE **** WAS HE THINKING AND WHY THE HELL ARE YOUR KIDS SO ******* STUPID BRINGING MY KID INTO THIS THING WA......

This is how we roll.. That anger.. That venting.. I think some of the worst ones are those parents at sporting events or some other competition.

I ran a mailbox in the early nineties. Without moderation some threads on the the forums would degrade into a cesspool quick. And I even knew most of my users personally. 18+ only too. There are sometimes situations when we are not as friendly and courteous as we should be. Not a big deal, I think. A little reminder is usually all it takes. Those that don't take the hint I am sure are a**** in real live as well. Just a little more controlled, maybe.

That said, I have no issues with chat in MWO. It is usually very quiet and rarely offensive.

There will always be bad sports and griefers in any online gaming community.
That said, I believe that most MWO players whom misbehave are simply frustrated with the current state of the game; often, the matchmaker will mix vastly different Elo ratings in teams or fail to match 'Mech weight classes across different teams, which can make the losing side feel 'cheated' by the system.

This is mainly a matchmaking and ELO issue. No, don't use "GG" for matches that are steamrolls or fails. Probably shouldn't use it if you don't know what it means.

Back in the days of Fighter Ace and WWIIONLINE, it was customary among pilots to say "gk" when the other pilot took them down. (GK= Good Kill ) Would be nice to see some of that around here more often. But I suffer from nerd rage at times too, usually by my own doing cause I play this game too much. I have to remind myself of what a fool I look like and remember I am raging about a game made up of polygons and pixels. It's ridiculous to act that way at any age.

Yeah, someone just raged at me because I, in a light, went to push a light off our base. Said nothing about the jager that despite having been closer to the base got there after I did.

All in the name of "tactics".

It's not just video games. It's anything with even a mild bit of competition. The worst offenders were 40 year olds in the rifle competions, 15 year olds in speedball tourneys, and high school football.

****, I had some broad curse me out in a governmental debate class because we had to argue opposite sides of the coin and she failed miserably and proceeded to calm me an "ignorant *******."

The speedballers were what I imagine the CoD kiddies are like judging by the titillating conversation my roommate has with his mic (I own an Xbox and PS3, but I don't play them online).

Highschool football, that was just loads of testostone in the most literal of meanings. Roids made everyone angry as ****.

But I still say the 40 year old rifle marksmen were the the nost vitriolic. I regularly placed top 5 with an old *** SMLE and cheap ammo while the majority of my competition had $5000 dollar rifles with $1000 optics and $2 a round ammo and they assumed because they had the best kit they should outshoot someone with lower quality kit.

To get back on track... People are just dicks not matter how you spin it or where you spin it.

I agree, seems a lot of people are losing the ability to differentiate from RL and the game. People need to just relax and if you cant, let go then get up, go outside and get some sunshine.

As for me I don't even take my job that serious, let alone a pretend world where I pretend to fight and die.
