I see the new Heavy Metal mech has been added to the game. I was very excited about this mech. However, I fail to see the point in purchasing one if it is the only variant of its chassis.

If I can't Elite it then why would I spend MC on purchasing it? That's the only reason I didn't buy one yet. I bought another 25K MC today so I could buy them but .. whoops! Guess I should have waited.

So, PGI, please add more variants since you have already got my money. :P I'm sure the MC will burn a hole in my pocket and I'll own the Heavy Metal within a few hours anyway.

From the patch notes:

Quote

This is the first time we have released the Hero Mech before the base variants (coming April 16th).

So as Vassago says, you'll have to wait two weeks for the other Highlanders. For now, there can be only one.

For the amount of money for that hero mech...it should come elited. Of course the P2W aspect rears it's head.

Brought this up when the speculation started and everyone ignored me, but I guess it isn't all that bad since you basically hoard the XP.

I think it would have been nice if they made it (and other hero mechs) test drive-able. No c-bill bonus or XP retention, just like the old trial mechs. They could release heros early and still get people to buy them without having to wait for the standard variants.

You used to really contribute to threads. Now it seems like all you do is pick the biggest font possible and call people stupid. Even if you're right, I still liked the old format better.

Well, sonny, here's how it works:
1) Buy HM Highlander
2) Play it for 2 weeks racking up tons of XP and c-bills
3) April 16th hits, buy 2 more Highlanders with all of the c-bills you acquired
4) Play the bejeezus out of the 2 new ones
5) Once they have their 8 basics, fully elite out the HM Highlander.

Done.

I do both still :P

I mean, come on, of course you can't elite it, there is only one variant. Do you have any idea how many poor electrons died to make this post.

Just voicing my rage at electron abuse.

The OP had missed the fact that there will be more variants. He is now wiser, while you're still ... what exactly did you contribute here again?

Also I hadn't thought about banking the XP and be able to master it more quickly once the new ones come out.

Seems like a good idea to me. Hero mech first, get people to buy it, regular ones later. I believe I even voted in favor of that option in a poll. I just didn't think through the efficiencies aspect of it.

I'm going to purchase the HM as soon as I finish getting Elite on these stupid Cicadas.
