PGI is doing things for the money now so who knows. There is no other reason to release a 30 dollar hero mech before the actual mech. It's all about marketing and they are only adding things to get the best bang for their buck without actual consideration of the game.

That is why we still see bugs from the closed beta days that STILL have not been addressed correctly.

Yeah, I pretty much came to this conclusion when they introduced consumables. It's not about the game anymore .. it's about marketing schemes.

The "pay to play as a merc" thing really just killed any motivation I have to play, therefore; pay. I'll hang around until the new UI is in but if it doesn't impress I'm done with this money sink. The game is starting to feel like a pyramid scheme.

I wonder what the rights holders think about this farce.

I was just hoping one of the devs would post saying " hey we're working on xxx, xxx and xxx, they'll be here in a few weeks/months and then hopefully xxx, xxx, and xxx will be coming a few weeks/months after that.

but xxx = content. xxx= existing things that need to be fixed or adjusted.

and like others are saying bugs are just piling up with each patch.

another bug my buddies just informed me of is none of our Aussie members are able to actually get into a match right now stuck at a black screen for half the match sometimes.

Not just aussies, anyone with high ping, I have this issue too and live in Southeast Asia, those of us in Kong who live in Europe and have ping around that area have this issue as well, it takes a good 1 or 2 extra minutes to load into a match for me [I will eventually get in early enough to still play, though, at least], my ping is around 200 exactly..

Cue:
  • "Its a beta"
  • "PGI only has 50 people"
  • Sarcastic replies to people being unhappy over problems with patch

problem is pgi chose a engine they cant handle, they should picked up other engine and tune it like unreal engine or other one they still can do pretty graphics and easy to play with, gamplay is everything, i still have friends playing cs 1.6, pgi had more eyes than belly which cant handle, if they cant keep what they promise which so far very disappointing, they shouldnt even start and let this to other capable hands, its commendable their effort, but lately, what i see, is their effort to get our money first.

They are, honestly, way understaffed for this game and its release schedule.

In the mean-time, they have bills to pay and payroll to fill. Once they committed to this project, they were running on a count-down timer that pitted their expenses and limited income against the contributions of investors. They likely under-bid on staff because they underestimated the challenges to some degree.

The fact is that most games run a deficit in their production. DLC and expansions using minimal production resources (or resources initially developed for the title lead) are where they recoup the development costs.

If they have a staff of 50 - they need a staff of at least 75 who are working on the 'hard' program (graphical resources, code, scripts, server-side components, UI, etc). That number needs to go up - and two months ago.

I would estimate that a few months from now, they're going to be running into server hosting issues and need to either purchase new servers or contract more server power from a hosting company (possibly for regional service, as well). So that's going to be fun.

For this game to ammount to much by time they are talking about coming out of closed beta - we're going to have to be seeing new content introduced each patch... and they are going to need at least three patch cycles to have CW in any kind of state acceptable for a gold release...

Which I don't see happening by the July-August time frame hinted at. Not unless they plan on pushing some absolutely massive updates down the pipe in the next month or two. CW should have been in from the moment it went open beta (months ago).

Ultimately - I think PGI will produce a good game... it's just that their budget, timeframe, and staffing are all out of whack with each other.

Or so I suspect.

None of this excuses poor communication and the current state of the game is very different than the marketed or advertised idea PGI publicly represents. To me and likely to others the problem is not the 'BETA' factor or the 'Work in progress' methods its the dissonance, the fact that there is a disconnect at PGI that does not understand that the necessary marketing and money making seeds only bear fruit when the logistic and game mechanics are fully functional. If PGI simply posted something on the forum saying "Hey we know this is all messed up and we are working on it" then that disconnect would begin to disappear - baby steps.
As my grandpa would have said "Don't pee on my leg and tell me it's raining".

We need a patch focused on stability, not profit

These things are often the hardest to pin down as they are also the hardest to reliably reproduce. Even when pinned down and fixed a patch could introduce a new one that is similar but caused in a completely different way. They probably are priorities, but they are not going to stop putting out other things that other people are working on.

This post is so full of BS. If your game is beta and you're actively developing it and _every_ player suffers from those UI bugs - how hard can it be to reproduce? How hard is it to implement a special button or a checkbox to get a memory dump/trace log of all server comms when a player's client is hit with a bug? Since we're all in this together and the game is not even beta-quality, why don't they just provide the necessary tools to iron this crap out?

Honestly, it all looks like they hit the gold vein and mining all the brainless people bucks with fancy toy hero mechs. Seems like the game has already returned all investment and is a nice fat profit now.
