I'd be fine with the airstrike being an aerospace fighter with an LRM20 or somesuch, locks any unit in the area and fires a volley. a single LRM20 is not that big a deal and would still fire if unable to lock (aka dead strike on the ground).

Artillery is kind of a joke ATM though, needs to be a single long tom shell with a nice explosion.

The problem is if they make it actually useful I can guarantee you an unending stream of whine and whinge will ooze upon the forums.

pretty sure OP meant the way airstrikes should look like and NOT how powerful they should be.

This is the best you can come up with? It's 2013. They've been doing attractive airstrikes in multiplayer games for years. Go to youtube and type in "call of duty airstrike."

Oh yes, tell us again how great call of duty is and this needs more of call of duty essence. xD

Mock CoD all you want when MWO is a ten year old title with five million zero day customers for each release.

There is also a couple million new venereal infections a day, just saying. High numbers are not always the good thing. :D

Notice how you are man sized in that clip.. dunno.. 25-100 tonne mechs are usually a tad bit bigger than a man :/

Yes. Yes they are. Doesn't that mean that the planes dropping the bombs could be made... bigger? Should be made bigger? I mean, bigger bombs with bigger payloads needs bigger planes/starfighters.

I mean, our mechs are basically shaped like anthropods, so: large anthropodical robot + large plane = scaled up version of perfectly normal airstrike.

Either way, I feel that airstrikes and artillerystrikes are not only a bad idea, but also not very well implemented. Artillery strikes should basically depend on NPC vehicles and/or long toms. Not frigging consumable modules that don't even exist in BT. It should also be map dependent. There should be an airfield which you can take out in order to deny the opponents team airstrikes. And we should be able to target the planes and shoot them down.

Yeah, daft idea imo.

McDonalds is also the number one fast food restaurant in America. Quantity doesn't equal quality.

So today I've learned that the airstrikes in mwo are not actually poorly implemented and of low quality because of VD and McDonalds. That's some Olympic Gold Standard White Knight logic right there.

And somehow you missed an elephant in a room using a shotgun. That is actually gold medal worth of "logic".

The irony between these two posts is painful.

Not really sure if we should start using some special font for sarcasm.

I too was hoping to see an ASF swooping in and delivering bombs.

(I remember in MechCommander they did that.)

MechCommander 2 specifically. Though the blasts were pretty underwhelming compared to the Longtom barrages of MechCommander 1.

I'd personally would like to see Corsairs come in:

They could still make MWO's airstrike look a little more like that, and I hope they will do some day.

No, Olympic Gold Standard White Knight logic is saying that CoD can't be mocked because MWO doesn't have the same level of popularity, which means jack squat in regards to quality. MWO doesn't have a great implementation either, but that doesn't mean we can't make fun of CoD. Make sense now or did that bomber go right over your head again?

Corsair unfortunately being a design from Crusher Joe

ie: one of the Unseen, though it has been made Reseen and the final Corsair design technically does have fair amount of design differences from it's source the Siren but as far as we can tell it doesn't seems like PGI wants to tread on that risky ground.

in short, it's not likely... other fighters might though.

You sure its unseen? It was used in MechCommander's Intro:

You can see it at 26s and 31s

If it is unseen there is other variations that could be ported over. Unlike MWLL, we don't have to worry about the thing landing here. And there are other Aerospace Fighters to use as well that actually look alot better.

It's unseen, definitely... the difference is that unlike Macross materials, HG is not the one holding the license in NA and thus it's not part of the things that HG complained about

regardless however, PGI i think does not intend to use any of the unseen material no matter how safe it may be now and prefer not to take any risk there at all given they have little resource to spare for such to begin with... note that unlike MWLL, they are a full risk to take as a business entity so this understandable.

just as a note: this is what Corsair source is in Crusher Joe
