Let's see how happy people are in a week when all the people with no impulse control find out they can't level their Highlanders to get the important stuff like speed tweak.

I find it a 'meh' idea.

This Thread amuses me.

Please, complain more about how PGI tricked you into purchasing the new mech.

Wait... U didn't purchase it?

So what's the problem?

I don't care. It's a good move.

The collectors get their early playtime with the new toy. There's plenty of chances to show it off to the regular players. You can build hype.

No one gets offended, PGI makes money.

I honestly don't care if PGI releases the Hero before the regular chassis. This game is at the point where players have 3 other assault chassis to pick from (Atlas, Stalker, and the other one I can't remember right now :D ).

Had there been NO assaults what-so-ever and PGI did this, then there would be some reason to be upset. Now only people who paid for the Hero mech could run an Assault and no one else can. That would be an issue.

As I see it, the mech base is now such where they can release the Hero mechs first and it isn't an issue. Matter of fact, it is probably good business sense too.

I'm surprised no one has brought this up. How does everyone feel about PGI holding back the release of the Highlander (which is obviously modeled, animated, skinned, et al.)? Does this smell of an attempt to get more people to purchase the hero, since they'll be the only highlanders out there for a while?

I think everyone noticed, and decided this is a perfect way for the company to monetize without cause undue stress on the player base, because two weeks is really nothing in the long run.

Honestly? I´d do the same.

It just feels right to give this sneek-peak first, marketing for the full release two weeks later. Nobody is forced to buy a hero variant, but those who want have this short time to feel a little more unique.

its been brought up a number of times. and honestly its just as likely to back fire and have them selling less. a lot of people like to try before they buy. but it does not hurt to test the waters.

I concur that it is no biggy. I'd far rather they monetize hero mechs than breaking fundamental gameplay principals in the quest for more $$$ (looks at coolant flush)

League of Legends does something similar where they offer a new champion for a high price then include it in the free champion rotation within 2-3 weeks.

I think this is totally ok and a good way for them to get income. Compared to the lamer stuff like coolant and air-strikes, it is wonderful.

I hope they use the cash they get for some quality testing for future patches.

Absolutely fine. I'm surprised they didn't start doing this kind of thing until now, to be perfectly honest. It's such an obvious, straightforward way to hype up new content and make some money from "early adopters". A real no-brainer.

Perfectly OK with me if this is the way things are done with new chassis releases form now.

As long as the delay isn't more than a month (currently its 2 weeks), I'm perfectly OK with it.

A much better way of making money than MC / C-bill modules.

I don't really have a problem with this, so long as the waits are reasonable. It's an industry standard practice that, while not very nice, is not exactly despicable either.

like others have said, this is an excellent idea. they should have been doing this for all hero mechs from the start. idk if they are following lore or w/e. the only slight problem I see is that people can't master it for another couple weeks.

I'm just waiting for the complaints from Heavy Metal users to start, about needing to wait two weeks before they can get anything more than 1x Basic efficiencies.

We had plenty of complaints when they removed the CN9-AH to add the YLW. Which made it so free players couldn't get to Elite because there were only two variants, the A and AL, that were free...

Plenty of complaints even though we knew the CN9-D was coming in a couple weeks.

I expect complaints from HM owners :)

Ya I think they should release the new mech 1 week after the hero variant. 2 weeks is a bit far off for those who purchased it. i didn't.

My only stance on this is I want hero mechs to be available in some way for c-bills. GXP unlocks with absolutely ludicrous c-bill costs would be suitable, including cutting out unique skin/c-bill bonus. I could care less if they release finished hero mechs early.

Just no. The mech makes you extra C-Bills and you want it to be purchaseable with C-Bills?

Fine. The new mechs are still coming out once a month. This gets them good money from people who really like the Heavy Metal or want early Highlanders. And the rest of us will get the Highlander in 2 weeks.

Reading between the lines you're all fine and dandy with players paying for an edge until PGI releases a ****** mech (lol Slowlander) and now founders are crying just as hard as casuals.

To me I view it this way. For those people who bought 3 Cataphracts to master them out when they came out, how many wished the Ilya-Muromets came out at the same time or early? That was a popular Cataphract and I bought one as well. If the Ilya came out at the same time or earlier than the others, I would not have purchased the 4X thus saving me those C-bills and upgrades.

I plan on mastering 3 Highlanders because I loved them from TT. My name in EQ was Highlander not because of the movie, because of the mech, I was a Barbarian Warrior. Side not, my computer and laptop are Madcat and Timber Wolf.

I am surprised they didn't do it from the start honestly. Good way to get more people to buy it, and it fits nicely into the paying to get something sooner scheme.

Good business move, and the rest of the community can get the CB variants later on.
