I cannot seem to find info on the different matchmaking options coming in so hence this question.

is there any matchmaking option planned that allows groups of friends to play against each other without just hoping your groups drop in the same game through timing?

I take it for granted that you are talking about 8 man que here. That should be almost empty so syncing there should work?
The devs had thought about adding a lobby but more important stuff like coolant and air-strikes got pri. Lobby next year.
