and when i say how does it work, i mean in the concept of assisting your teammates. unless its part of the commander powerset in which case nvm.
like narc, you fire it, it hits an enemy, and they become an lrm magnet for the team.
tag's a targeting laser, how is that going to work for directing friendly fire?

so i get NARC, but how does TAG work?

You'll probably have to hold the target in your sights until the missiles/arrow IV artillery strike their target.

you're right that it is like a laser tag... it provides the missles warhead a specific laser frequency that it can "SEE" and home in on.

BIG LASER POINTER lol. It works in the same way laser designation weapon systems work in today's modern military. You point a laser to guide the smart munitions to target. This is a good way to get yourself spotted tho lol

but wouldent a pilot get all shook up being shot to hell using tag, not keeping the pointer on target?
and if your using lrm or arrow's do you get a target or do you just blind fire them and hope your scout got a lock?

I don't think you need the target under your reticle, but you probably need a lock and line of sight.
The IF mech gets a lock on the Mech it can't see, and then it fires.
We saw that much in the presentation of the Heavy Mech video.

I've been TAG'ed more times than I care to admit in MWLL, and couldn't always tell where it was coming from, since the TAG in said game have a 1000m range. At least with their iteration, you hold down the laser on the target, and any allies within range can "dumb-fire" with LRMs or Arrows and they'll home in, just like a NARC.
