Who wrote this? Did they write it in English, Babelfish it in to Japanese, and then Babelfish it back in to English? It's a hot mess of individual words that make grammar police cry.

I do appreciate these little updates, but I'd really rather see a paragraph-long story with some context every week than an incoherent sentence every day.

Language is alive: it evolves. 2013 not spoken in 3050. Open mind.

Quote

After General Kerensky's exodus, some Star League soldiers remained in the Inner Sphere. Some of these drifted into the Federated Suns where, during the First Succession War, Prince John Davion organized all incomplete units into the Crucis Lancers. The Lancers held tight to many of the traditions of the Star League even as they have fully integrated themselves into the AFFS. Therefore, the modern Crucis Lancers recruit almost exclusively from worlds within the Crucis March.

sooo not completely sure what this "news" update pertains to but what's wrong with being traditionalist? I for one like being old school. Of course this IS written weird so the update could mean something completely different.

That still isn't proper english. Since you opened the door, if it read something like:

"The Crucis Lancers, formed from remnants of Star League Soldiers, are under attack for being "too traditional"."

or

"The Crucis Lancers, formed from remnants of Star League Soldiers, are under attack by "two traditionalists"."

or

"The Crucis Lancers, formed from remnants of Star League Soldiers, traditionally attack PGI for butchering lore updates in their Inner Sphere News segments."

They seem to enjoy leaving themselves open to this kinda of hammering everytime one of these ISN is put up... I mean is it that hard to read what you copy and paste from your word document. Come logical thinking is all it takes to correct some of these.

I get the feeling that the daily ISN broadcast is probably the lowest of priorities at the moment. Considering it serves no real purpose outside of lore building at the moment, I'll be more worried about it if it becomes actual news about CW and it's getting stuffed up then.

Still a 5min google search of "Cruicis Lancers sarna" still doesn't hurt their time frame and the little bit of extra info and QA check doesn't hurt the improved perception of the company... simple yet effective stuff to make us happier to see these... simple yes?!

Just to be technical, they were formed with remnants of the Star League Defense Force, not from pieces of individual soldiers. :D

In this way the original post did succeed in that the solders themselves were identified as remnants. Where it truly failed was at the end. Should have been either "for BEING "too traditionalist." (I think that still works) or "for BEING "too traditional." or for HAVING "too MANY traditionalists." Though the latter is probably not the intent of the sentence.

The English language is weird.

"Too traditionalists?" ;) We are so modern today, that we still haven't rediscovered all "too traditional" LosTech of the Star League.

And are Crucis Lancer "under attack" for their traditionalism on the battlefield... or is it just on holovid channels by some yapping media lap-dog? :D

Ah, I think you misunderstand the post.

What our reporter friend meant to say was that they (the Crucis Lancers) are being criticized for being two traditionalists. Unfortunately the wrong 'to' was used, so I can see why you might be confused..

NB, two traditionalists are not enough to make a single lance, never mind the multiple lances that the outfit's name suggests. That's false advertising, and I'd criticise them too!
