The only issue I see is "heat-seeking" off map attacks you can paint onto players would be considered a bit much.

No because it would only encourage people to use the consumable system which needs to die a slow, painful death before PGI decides they need to introduce inferno, AP, or precision ammunition.

The original purpose of TAG is for artillery.

Target Acquisition Gear is an advanced targeting device for use by artillery spotters. The TAG unit works by firing an infrared laser beam to designate the target and transmits that data via a tight-beam laser communication system to the guidance systems of friendly "smart" bombs and missiles. The system was first introduced by the Terran Hegemony in 2600, but it became Lostech during the Succession Wars until it was recovered by the Federated Suns in 3033.[1] TAG is compatible with systems such as Arrow IV Homing Missiles or Semi-Guided LRM munitions.

"command consoles enable the use of artillery and airstrikes. only one command console module is allowed per team."

I'm going to leave out command consoles for now. However, I am very curious about how they will be implemented

Simply too impossible an ecm can have an effect to counter tag when a target has already been designated, the only ecm that i can think of is you will be given info by that ecm when would that airstrike would take place. that you wud give sometime to run away from the area to be bombarded. or unless your mech is full of mirror to deflect the laser beams oh well nothing serious :) is it possible to deflect laser beams by using radiowaves?

would be nice if the strikes homed in on tagged target instead of on the ground.

this would be a needed buff to TAG
