They went uber cheap with the 5% xp. They could of made 10% cbill and 10%xp, and I still wouldnt get it. Though some would be raging over it, I'm sure.

It sounds like it is just an incentive to use MC to buy mechs. If you want to level something quickly (like say the Raven 4-x) You could buy this Champion. I consider it a very focused XP boost that lasts for the mech, not a number of weeks. Depending on the price, I can see this being desirable.

people have been wanting Cbill boosting standard variants. since not all founders and not all hero mechs are viable.

This feels like a way to create premium versions for founder-class mechs to me... No one is going to cry about their founders catapults or atlases being worthless if a premium version like this were released. Though I'd wager no one would cry if they doubled that bonus either... 5% XP is almost negligible. If you scored a 3500XP game on a 2X weekend that bonus would only give you an extra 175XP at most, depending on how/when it's applied.

I swear I read yesterday on a similar post, it's either going to be a Raven, Hunchback or a Spider. I'm looking for the post now and the original Dev quote, it was about how the 3L was deemed superior to the 2X and the 4X.

This could be a bonus applied when you have a mech on master, or three variants of the same chassis on master. Currently, getting to master is not very rewarding. You get the slot for free but in order to fill it (especially for every mech) you need to spend a fortune.

I ahev the feeling the Champion mech will be like the Dragon 5n trial made by the community.
A quite used chasis with a more personal configuration from the DEvs or from the community. Also if the normal mech cost 500MC as example this champion may cost 300-400 MC this making it a better starter mech for MC than just the custom variante.

Bought a stock mech once for MC, only purchase out of many I've made on this game that I truly regret (it was an AWS-8Q..sigh). Hero mechs...ok maybe, but I'd never buy another stock mech for MC at those prices and without any preview option & a paltry 5% xp gain won't change that, unless these champions are much cheaper than current stock mechs. (like 50-75% cheaper, highly unlikely)
I bought my 8Q, K2, one of my hunchies and I think one of my phracts with MC. I was sick of grinding at those times so I think it's okay.

No seriously....I have like 100k exp sitting spread around on various mechs. A 5% bonus doesn't do anything. And I don't really play a lot.
It doesn't do anything. I have 30k gxp sitting too from one of the xp->gxp conversion sales with nothing good to buy.
C-bills might be a good bonus if I could stick it on any mech. But xp? Doesn't do anything.

all depends on the price. if we can upgrade current mechs to champs, for say 1-200 MC. then an extra 5% exp is worth it. considering u play them all the time, it will stack. but if its like buy a whole new mechs for 2k MC, screw u PGI find a better boost.

after reading the dev update over and over again i interprete
as: 25% cbill boost, standard-hardpoint variant, 5% xp boost and lower mc price point
hope it will be like that...
but to be honest...
why champions?
why not a "upgrade kit" for 15-20% cbill boost for every mech we want?
what if the champion on 19th will be a mech one does not like at all?
why not give everybody the freedom to make his/her "perfect" mech?
i'd pilot my K2 more often if it had at least a 10% cbill boost to ease the grind...

Similar in nature to the Founder's BattleMechs, a Champion `Mech is based of an existing variant with a special permanent 5% XP boost and lower price point.

The conversation sale was indeed a nice move. Converted bit over 50k gxp that time in anticipation of the artillery and air strike. And then they made them one level upgrade so I got plenty gxp left over.
I'm not sure what to think of the champions as PGI was pretty vague about it and I don't want to jump to conclusions. But to me it seems like it's a new version of an already existing chassis that comes with an xp boost, and it cost MC only. To me that seems weak. Not something I'd be interested in.
