I'd really like to know the variants list, many of the others look to potentially have 1/2B (RA), couple of E in the RT, and several missile hardpoints split in the LT and LA, therefore you can do a mix of several srms good for brawling.

I'd need to look around to find the exact dev post to quote, but as I recall these are the variants coming:
732 Gauss, 2xML, LRM20, SRM6
733 AC/10, 2xML, LRM20, SRM6
733C AC/20, 2xML, LRM20, SRM6
733P PPC, 2xML, LRM20, SRM6

There's quite a bit of conformity with the C standing out for it's lack of lower arm actuator, and the P for the energy arm.

The above is part of why I got the hero, none of the other highlanders have their missiles torso mounted, and only the PPC one will have energy on the arms.
I prefer arm lasers on my assaults for scaring off the light mechs.

[edit] Found the link, ask the Devs 27: http://mwomercs.com/...evs-27-answers/

Q: How will mechs that have less than 3 variants achieve the elite and master tier levels of the mech trees? For example, the Highlander has been announced to only have 1 variant at launch (possible this has changed) [Tvae]
A: I only knew one variant at the time, saying something like "the only variant I know of is the HGN 732." The variants are: HGN-732, HGN-733, HGN-733C, HGN-733P.

Well, Im not that impressed with my Highlander so far. Dont get me wrong, I like the model, kill music, Cammo pattern (not colour) and stuff, but in harsh MWO (pvp) world atm its basicly Awesome 2.0.
Its faster than Atlas but basicly it trades 10 tons of weapon's/armour for ~6 mph (Compared to Atlas with same 300 standard enngine).

But there are couple BIG advantages tho for some brawler builds Im going to run with that thing...

...and tbh every assault got it hard lately with all those quadppc/ac40/2xgauss easymode/one trick pony build's running around

I've missed that ask to devs. The P is the heavy energy variant and the 733C could be interesting but yes, how about one arm with actuator and the othe r not having it? That's going to be fun.

Playing around in the java mechlab i do really hope they'll have 4 missiles hardpoints in the left side, that's why see them better at close range.

Ya, sorter is right.
With alot of the game changing due to netcode and weapon fixes, assaults are dying much quicker.

Its a fear of mine that was talked about a few weeks ago, the fights are getting shorter, so not many tactics can be brought to the table after intial engaement anymore.

Its not cod or hawken yet, but the fear of a Atlas has been diminished.

I'm loving my HM!

I'm not afraid of running an XL. Honestly, I had more problems with my legs. Had to shift some stuff so I could jack my leg armor back up near max because they were getting stripped nearly every fight. As for people trying to take out the LT, it's happened, but I can tell you I've never had a mech that so consistently had the entire torso stripped of armor and still been fighting at the end.

Part of me still giggles a little when I see that colour scheme from the other side of the map...

Seriously though, it might become a more fun mech when the "Highlander Burial" actually becomes part of the game. It would make sacrificing 10 tons for the JJ's on an assault more viable (Depending on how it's implemented)

Heavy metal rocks, literally. My 1.8 and rising each day KDR vouches for it.

had some good knife fights with HM, and those jjets come in handy. but PUG drops are tough because most mechs go faster and even an Atlas outruns a stock HM (guess Elite helps), so I wound up alone most of the time lastnight and getting my transistors handed to me. but I still like the HM...

Odds are you'll be able to custom fit the stock 732 to 732b specs. Adding a second variant that shares slot layout would've served no one.

Loving my Heavy Metal. More mobile than an Atlas, tougher than a Stalker, and firepower about on par with an Atlas, as well. I have made a couple people sit up and go "WTF just hit me?!" now, through first salvo decapitations. I just absolutely hate the pink/magenta. Cannot wait until that is changeable. It is not the external pink that bothers me so much, as it is the BRIGHT, NEON BLINDERS on either side of my cockpit.

I don't care for the Pink Putrescence, however I'll definitely be running my hands through them stock Highlanders, having removed the JJs.

Disregard Jumpjets, acquire dakka!

unless pgi has been very cagey this mech is going to end up a hard point balance nightmare. just dont want to see twin gauss +ppcs or triple ppc gauss without very serious heat issues become possible

@Steinar Bergstal

While I may not share most of my kin's affinity for lead bottom sumo-mechs, I can assure you, no black and red snake banners here! We Steiners have a fondness for efficiency and quality control sadly lacking in your realm. I've always found it preferable for all the parts on my mech to work, something rare from makes with a "Made on Luthien" label. What happened to the JapanesebZen for quality control my friend?

I'll stick to my "Made in the Federated Commonwealth" designs (ok.... Except for my Trebbie-K), more dakka for my kroner.

But it's ok to wear your Lyran love proudly, I can see in your name your love of brats and lederhosen, even if your parents had to tweak the spelling a tad to not be executed by the ISF.

;-)

@Kurita Guard

Did yours come with matching panties to get in a twist?
(gotta love people who are OH SO SERIOUS about their stompy robots)

@ Shazarad
Pre. I haven't been on much the last 6 weeks, been diving in Mexico, so only have access thru my laptop and Starbucks WiFi. Haven't barely touched my primary account because of that. Been playing a new free account instead, using trial mechs. This morning I didn't have to share bandwidth with anyone and actually had double digit FPS..... and 2 of my whopping 4 kills today were Heavy Metals. In a trial Centurion.

And idk if I will get a Highlander bro. Thought I would like the Stalker, too slow. Never drive Atlases anymore. If I can't break 70 kph, don't really plan to drive it (with the exception being an Urbanmech). More power to anyone who does like em tho. At least as long as they got a sense if humor.

@Megasa..... Cheers! People who can laugh, especially at themselves are welcome anytime!

heh, I needed a good laugh thanks Bish.

I like the salvage from all those XL engines.

The game hasn't worked properly for me this patch, so I only got a few hours of playing in.

Drop with 6 pinks a DDC and a Cata 3D (random group btw) we tore them up not one person on the team was to the core yet.

It is a great mech and takes next to no skill to play it. If you want to play a skill mech get a DK and do 600 damage a game.

That's not skill. You got a tiny target, moving fast. All that really takes is for your team to live long enough to provide the distraction of more important targets.

Real men bounce into battle in giant pink eye-sores, drawing the attention of the entire enemy team and see how many they can take with them!

Naw. Real men tart their AWS-9M up to look like the Pink Power Ranger, and brawl.
