I find they make delightful targets! I especially love when those slow, cumbersome, thunder-thighed Barbie-Mechs actually tries to pop tart or pretend those overweight JJs actually make ok Bertha maneuverable! You can hear them groan under the strain half the map away, lol.

Though I could see the choice of color making them a mech of choice with some of the Light Pony lads and lasses.

What's your take on Heavy Metal? (seems more like the kind wearing the Winger tshirt on Beavis and Butthead than actual heavy metal. I think the devs are letting their age show with these "Ode to 80s Hair-Metal" mecha, like Heavy Metal and Pretty Baby.

Your opinions?

I love it actually. I play it like I did my Dragons. Gauss in one arm, 3 Large Lasers in the other and missiles in the chest. I am pretty good with arm mounted weapons but yea, running at 54 KPH isn't my style. Don't get me wrong, I have 3 Stalkers I mastered and do not own any Atlas mostly because of their slow speeds. I also don't have jump jets on my Highlander.

@Kurita Guard

Did yours come with matching panties to get in a twist?
(gotta love people who are OH SO SERIOUS about their stompy robots)

@ Shazarad
Pre. I haven't been on much the last 6 weeks, been diving in Mexico, so only have access thru my laptop and Starbucks WiFi. Haven't barely touched my primary account because of that. Been playing a new free account instead, using trial mechs. This morning I didn't have to share bandwidth with anyone and actually had double digit FPS..... and 2 of my whopping 4 kills today were Heavy Metals. In a trial Centurion.

And idk if I will get a Highlander bro. Thought I would like the Stalker, too slow. Never drive Atlases anymore. If I can't break 70 kph, don't really plan to drive it (with the exception being an Urbanmech). More power to anyone who does like em tho. At least as long as they got a sense if humor.

@Megasa..... Cheers! People who can laugh, especially at themselves are welcome anytime!

This.

But your 70kph limit seems lacking. Real men go at least 80.

Watch out for those MW4 floatjets, they make the mech so dangerous

I havent bought a hero mech yet but i'm so tempted by the highlander, and it will be great fun when collisions come back in and you can perform the highland burial.

Will probably cave soon and buy one as im in the UK and so its not quite as expensive for me.

my only (smart alecky) comment about it is how they released it before the regular version of the mech. Because when it comes to the Highlander as we know. "There can be only one."

I was having fun with it then I realized I paid $45 for a slow cataphract jump sniper.

Ummm... Not really. Phract is 11 KPH faster, so you're right there. That is where the similarities end.

Phract has much easier to target side torso, thus easier to kill with the XL.
Phract has 15 points less armor on the arms and side torso's, making them much easier to be popped.
Phract has 30 points less armor on the Center Torso.
Phract has up to 15 points less armor on the legs.
Phract jump sniper has little secondary weapons, my Highlander has 10 SRMs with Artemis.

So you are sort of right. The Jump Phract is still pretty good, but its a different animal. Its faster, more maneuverable, but not as tough or combat flexible.

Naw. Real men tart their AWS-9M up to look like the Pink Power Ranger, and brawl.

REAL Men don't poptart. ;-)

Didn't say anything about pop-tarting. I'm usually the tip of the spear... which goes a long way to explain my KDR, heh.

I feel you've missed something, since I have a similar loadout, but move faster and have JJs. Gotta tell ya, JJs make the mech. Otherwise you might as well have brought a Fatlas.

They need to Make a GWAR Tribute mech to make up for the hair metal trubutes. Name It Whargoul and give it a Melee weapon, a Sword named Lick. It would the only HeroMech I'd ever get. Also It needs spiky shoulder Pads...

I'm obliterating everyone with it, D-DCs, 6PPC wonders, Awesomes, Jagers.. you name it. They ain't nothing for me, I can have them 100 to 0 without overheating, 1v1. 4mans, 8mans, solo, I do it all. If you got a problem with that, challenge us.

I know that feeling, I'm having a ball with this mech, had a match last night where we where down 4-8, three minutes into the match, but we made a come back, I was up to 4 kills the only mechs left were my slightly 'worse for wear' Heavy Metal vs a 'Fresh as a Daisy' Heavy Metal, based on his loadout I could tell he had an XL and just focued fired on his left shoulder, and got my 5 kills and the win. This Mech might beat out my Atlases on the fun factor.

Compared to the 800-1200 a DDC can easily average. Cool. So Heavy Metal is averaging the same damage I get out of YLW and Flame. Totally worth it.

For Shame!! 1200 Damage on your Atlas only means sloppy firing practices, keep your shots focused and on target for quick and clean kills... :)

I am not really impressed with it tbh, bit of a waste of money imo but I do like to help fund the game. Maybe next time a new Hro Assault comes up I will check it out first instead of rushing in to buy...no AC20 ffs am still in shock :)

Do any of you Heavy Metal pilots know if the kill music can be turned off? There's the music slider in the options menu at the top left, but I can't try it until I've bought it. Could one of you pilots test it and post on her with the answer? I don't care if other people hear it, I just don't want to every time I get a kill (because that happens a lot :)). It's the main reason stopping me from buying one; I know it sounds silly but it just bugs me.
