I picked one up as soon as I could. Highlander was my ride in MW4, and this version of it does not disappoint. Have a pretty decent config (minus the xl engine and the missiles), and you cant beat being as tough as an atlas while being able to jump in and out of combat like a Catapult. Plus the paint job and kill music are both fantastic

Also, i ripped the XL and slapped in a STD300. May not have been wise .. But makes for an interesting match when my target blows off my worthless ballistic arm va my RT and i keep pumping LLs and PPCs into him.

Explanation for all the ragers 2.0
Look at the stock loadout of a Highlander. Look at the stock loadout of an AS7-D.
gauss rifle / ac20
lrm 20 / lrm 20
srm6 / srm6
3? Medium lasers / 4 medium lasers
15 tons armor / 19 tons armor
12 SHS / 20 SHS
48 KPH / 48 KPH
Jump capable / non jump capable
The only thing the Highlander has going for it is jump jets, which usefulness is situational at best, especially considering their weight and the mecha horrendous speed and mobility. Armament is a wash, and the Atlas owns it for armor and heat efficiency.
Aka, the Highlander, all TT boners aside, as a CHASSIS, is inferior to the Atlas, as a chassis.
Hence, the Highlander chassis is a " poor man's atlas".
That you were willing to pay extra to put spinners and chrome and a Nice stereo in it, doesn't change the fact its a Suzuki Samurai instead of a Jeep. But hey... Its pink and makes music!
Ok, English Class dismissed. Go have fun in your Barbie Mechs. (will Ken get his own mech next?)

Forgot:
Can jump-turn on a dime / moves roughly akin to a beached whale
Maneuverability has value even when the speed is lacking.

Always preferred the Victor in MW4, tbh. In fact that game is where I got hooked on them. I forget the engine, but slapped in the JJs, maxxed armor, 1 Gauss or LB20x depending on mission, 2 Streak 6 packs and 2 Clan ER Large Lasers. I moved in the low 70s, but that thing jumped and turned lime a dream. Whenever I went heavier, the MadCat mkII or Fafnir always got the call. Highlander and Gladiator never clicked for me.

From my observations killing Heavy Metals over the past 24 hrs I would compare it more akin to
Moves like a beached whale that occasionally flops / moves like a beached whale.
Still waiting for someone to pirouette one like a Jenner. Seen a lot of people claim it. Haven't actually witnessed it yet. (course I am waiting to see most people use jjs for something more than poptarting on Catapuracts, too, so I could he in for a long wait.)

Good: weapons can be aimed much quicker and used against people above/below.
Bad: less crit space for weapons available (no double UAC5s, only 2 PPCs).
If you like arm mounted weapons it'd be worth giving the non-MC versions a try.

my post is being quite original tyvm. In place of the usual rages against fanbois, pgi, expletives, golds, whales, entitlement, p2w, OP, nerd or buff, I have filled my post with pink prose, almost an ode to the corpulent extravagance laid upon this fuscia fear monger of a mech.

Naw. Great marketing strategy, but never really sounded like my ride. I like Mediums and fast heavies. I'm sure I'll give one a spin in 2 weeks when they hit, but doubt I'll like it any more than I do the atlas, stalker or awesome, tbh. But for the peeps who like Fatlases, Heavy Metal ought to give a different kind of ride.
Its just fun seeing the peeps take this waaaay to serious and get their polka dotted panties all twisty over it, lol. Pretty sure 1/3 of the guys I run with already got one.
