So, last night I did a few games (about 10 or so) with my brother and fact is, this game isn't what it used to be 4-5 months ago. Simply put, we rarely lasted more than 5-6 seconds every time we were out in the open (willingly, not because we got caught or something) and it wasn't fun... it's the 2nd night in a row where we notice this. No more battle of attrition, mediums are almost out of the game, only 3-4 weapons are being used in the game. Sniping with heavy weapons is what almost everyone is doing and I don't see the fun in that. Yes, I know such builds were possible before, but not everyone were using those... (no need to point out the hyperbole I'm using, I know already)

If this is how PGI wanted the game to become, then I'm disappointed and would not have supported it as much as I did. I wish they listened to us back in CB when some of us asked to modify the hardpoint system so it doesn't allow as much abuse as we're seeing right now. Instead, we got flamed and now I have a feeling we're in too deep to change anything now...

And dear god, this is gonna be even worse with Clans in the game.

In the end, we're both taking a break from the game, I'll play SC2 and CS:GO for my competitive needs, Chivalry and Path of Exile with my bro when we want dumb fun, and come here from time to time, see how things go...

If you want to come here and tell me "don't let the door hit ya on the way out" or something smart and original like that, please do if it makes you feel better, I don't really expect much! If you share the same thoughts, don't be afraid to post here either.

Depends on the map? I have plenty of close up fights. Do take a break though, it's what you should do with any game to make sure it doesn't get stale, especially considering this one is having content still added to it.

You and I are playing VERY different games. I can solve this for you. Work together. Use cover. DONT EVER be out in the open. I play medium mechs all the time. as do my friends. Sniping is not the end all be all, you just have to use teamwork to counter it, as one would have to do in real life. All that being said, the only way to combat this issue is to become better at the game. And by all means, take a break for a while. It will help you when you come back refreshed.

I hear what your saying man, but one thing I have noticed and hope you have too is that PGI has been trying to balance the game and the weapons and how they are used in game. The game seems to go through balance to unbalanced to balanced... etc. changes as PGI adds in new things and changes old ones. I think what you are seeing right now is a state of the game when it is unbalanced and that PGI is trying to get it back to a more balanced look. With the recent nerfs to missles this has caused people to stop using them which is one of the main reasons why you see lots of heavy weapon sniper alpha strike builds. If PGI brings missles back up a little bit to a more active support/antisniper damage role I think you will see a bit less alpha sniper builds.

Now we complain about sniping. One good counter to that is LRM'S that work.
I think we had those prior to the hot fix and everybody complained about those and said they are OP. when the solution to sniping and lrm's is the same. Use cover and off axis approaches.

the difference between LRMs and heavy alphas is that LRMs are AoE weapons and Alpha are pinpoint damage, meaning you can get cored extremely fast if you stay 1 sec too long out of cover. LRMs were a lot easier to evade and would spread their damage all over your mech. I never complained much about LRMs although I agree they did too much damage before (and now do not enough)

I don't know if it's related to ELO or anything, but all I'm seeing are triple PPC phracts, 4 PPC + Gauss Atlas, Double AC/20 Jager and the ballistic K-2s, hence why I'm calling the game as boring... when I see a hunchie or a Cent I'm very surprised!

Were you PUGging/4-manning, or 8-manning?

Not a bit...

if you are bored with the game, you may not like PvP.

Cut the ECM... increase AMS potency instead....this would greatly improve the game
And perhaps increase heat for ppc. Boom...fixes everything

It is getting repetative and boring, I'm getting tired of wack-a-mech after 6 months of Closed and Open Beta!. Where is Community Warfare? How about some intel on how you are bringing the Clans into the game?

As a RPG it is a complete failure and as a battletech simulator it falls well short of the mark.

The meta has swung back into it's Closed Beta focus on long range builds and sniping (back then it was because the Gauss was so amazing, now it's because Alpine and Tourmaline). Plus, I'm suffering a bit of burn out. Stuff isn't getting added fast enough, and PGI seems determined to rustle my jimmies as hard as they can with stuff like third person and pay2play with friends.

I'll probably drop back into playing TF2 for a while, give MWO a break. I'll keep playing for another few weeks on account of my premium time, but it'll be less than I have been before.

I have been losing interest lately, also. The official response on ECM has really demoralized me, too. I ask myself, "why do I want to play a game where the developers feel that a mechanic like ECM is "balanced?". ECM doesn't stop me from winning and kicking arse, but anyone can see that it IS over powered. Like the Splatcat or any other "cheese" build. It's not so bad that it breaks the game completely, but if this is how it's going to be forever, then why should I continue on?

I think another bummer for me is the lack of news/content. I've seen people post info and expectation dates; but it's all for info I've known about for a month or more. Where is mech #20? Where are some more details about CW (what they said at GDC is NOT new. I've known that for nearly a year now)...

I dunno. I haven't played since this weekend and I'm not feeling any urge at all to play it at the moment. The only reasons I'm on this forum are because I'm bored at work and I'm futily attempting to influence the direction this game is headed in my trying to reach out to PGI in comments and posts without being a douche.

Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be working.

i love that everyone is complaining about ac40 brawlers and sniping in the same post, and all while pleading for their missles back.

I run awesomes, mostly. Waiting for Highlander (and not because of the ballistics, I just want to yell THE QUICKENING! every time I kill another mech).

Since I bought the Founders package and I love the BT game genre (played original box set), I will certainly play MWO when it launches. But this last month I have played only a few games with my Merc unit, Legion of Phobos. Frustration has set in somewhat with the in-game bugs, balance being the nerf stick and rant'n'rage forum pvp. This last patch on 4/2 was hardly more than expansion of consumables (moneysinks). I am not a too 'casual' player as I have 18 mechs and an open mech bay. Defiance opened (they had problems), Neverwinter and World of Warships and Dragons Prophet etc...all have some interest. Sigh! Guess I am just tired. Dreading the possibility that MWO will be an Arena Brawl game with elites and champions while the rest of us are the cannon fodder.

Every time I burn out I take a break and play something completely different. I peaced out during the whole coolantgate/3rd person slap in the face fiasco and played some Civilization it was cool.

Also if you read these forums on the regular, force yourself to stay away from this train wreck of a place. Do not post, do not read. It's amazing how many of my breaks have been influenced to various degrees by meltdown on these forums.

you just told that to someone who beta tested CS in 1998, played Diablo 2 pvp, SC Brood War online, Tribes:Ascend, LoL, DOTA 2 and Smite.

No, I think I'm fine with PVP and you got it completely wrong.
