So some pages back the OP totally ignored my pointing out that the whole OP post, position, basis of logic for argument and argument itself wasn't simply wrong but irrational. Instead they chose to say that the analogy I used for pointing out how irrational they are was somehow irrational - I guess I picked the right analogy?

For anyone to have any basis for an argument the game would have had to have been advertised as NOT an open beta and sold for money anyway. That didn't happen. MWO is providing exactly what it offered as a F2P game in development but in open beta that crowd funds by microtransactions for hero mechs, premium time, paint, cockpit decorations, etc.

The game is getting patched every two weeks if not more often, balancing and new content being added or adjusted based on feedback from.... us. The beta testers.

Again. There is no sane, rational, justifiable or logical way to say that the game's not an open beta. It exactly fits the definition of an open beta - in fact the only argument someone could make is that it's not sufficiently feature complete to qualify as open beta and could be called an open alpha but that would be disingenuous. It's got mechs and the fundamental basis of PvP mech combat in it. All the features marked for RC are not implemented yet and the released features are still in beta balance (we have a Command Console object with no implemented function for example) so it's....

an open beta. Open beta has nothing, in any way shape or form, to do with monetizing any aspect of the game. Be that finding crowd sourcing, venture capital, publisher backing, sub-licensing, even subscriptions. I can charge you for an idea if you're willing to pay me for it. The value of something is nothing more than what someone else is willing to pay for it. Monetization is separate, unrelated and totally divorced from what state of development the product is in.

MWO is in open beta. To argue that isn't simply futile but bizarrely narcissistic. Your opinion of what something is worth or how finished you feel it may or may not be is utterly, completely and totally irrelevant to the developer stated position in the product cycle.

Which is what the title 'open beta' is.

I don't even get how this can be argued. There is no argument - it's like saying when Starbucks offers to sell you a cup of coffee for $5 that they can't call it coffee.... not because of what it is but because you feel they should call it a Caramel Mocha. Regardless of the content, simply because you feel that only a Caramel Mocha is worth $5 so if it's worth $5 it must be a Caramel Mocha regardless of the fact that it is, in fact, just a cup of coffee.

This isn't an argument. There's nothing rational to argue. MWO is in open beta. It's also monetizing development via micro transactions of the beta product. One has nothing what so ever to do with the other.

No, in the example, Id be lex luthor lol

the idea being that instead of saying "superman will save us" or whatever she says, you insert "the game is whatever the devs say it is"

an I aint mad lol this is fun. Forums are more fun than the game right now, prolly why I have 1 game played an 700 odd posts
An on my founder account (I have 2 cause my founder runs out of likes really fast for some reason) 250 some odd games and like 6k posts rofl

You did it wrong, all posts are now supposed to end with "Don't be mad".

I think you just called me insane.

I'm a little offended.

I also think you meant I was the boy and Luther (you) was holding streaks in my face to make me flinch.

I see how it is.... Don't be mad.
